Excellent roastiness perfectly balances the subtly yet potent hops. Bittersweet chocolate and fantastic burnt coffee tastes that don’t over-power but blend in with the mellow feel of the beer make this a truly delightful drink jacktripper (20), Canada

Aroma of coffee, chocolate and a light hint of alcohol. Tastes much the same although the finish smacks of dark roast coffee and the darkest, most bitter chocolate. One of a kind, simply the best stout I have ever had. Bejaaamin (110), London, Ontario, Canada

What cant I say about this fantasticaly dark stout! The body is thicker than demi, and the colour is as dark as an empty universe. The head is a rich-espresso colour. The smell and flavours are rich-chocolate and espresso. With the perfect bitterness, this beer is not only Canada’s best, but possibly the world’s. I highly recommend this to everybody, all ages! ajas (1), Ontario, Canada does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | May 7, 2004 the best bottled stout i have found so far. full bodied beer. hints of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt human (1), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Aug 10, 2006 One of my top few beers. Nice bitter coffee and hints of chocolate flavour. And lacking a better way to phrase it at this point, it is a very clean tasting beer. Dry might be the right word to use there. Smells of roasted coffee, with a hint of caramel malt. Incredible hit of coffee and chocolate malts, very complex flavour that hits you on so many levels. Very smooth tasting, and the taste hits you again, impeccable aftertaste. Just might the best beer I’ve ever had so far. The only complaint think of is it’s thin bodied, that’s it. Incredible. Very roasty, smoky aroma.
The flavour is malty and a little sweet. The smokiness translates to a smooth mellowing flavour. The beer is pitch black. You can hold this up in front of a light bulb and not see through it. Veeeeery dark and ohhhh so delicious.
The beer pours a dark tan head that quickly disappears. Mid-heavy carbonation lends itself well to the earthy, malty taste. It gives the flavour a prickliness and lets it linger in your mouth.
What can I say that hasn’t already been said. This beer wins awards for a reason. Highly recommended.
Cheers!
