Pours a completely opaque midnight black with a 2 finger tan head. Incredible lacing with this one. Nose is roasted oats, dark chocolate and espresso. Taste smoked malt, toasted ashy malt, bakers chocolate and a bitter black coffee finish. Full, creamy mouth feel. Really good – thanks Marc! fredandboboflo (1431), East Setauket, New York, USA

I’m not a huge coffee drinker, in fact I probably drink coffee about four times a year, but this aroma just feels like a lovely, refreshing foray into a local, homely coffee establishment, and I love it. Sure there’s probably some more specific flavors in there, but in this case it’s definitely about the forest, not the trees. Flavor largely continues in this vain but also with some nice bitter chocolate/chocolate with bittering hops. Appearance almost garnered the rare 5, but the head wasn’t quite as refined as I require for a 5, dissipated a bit too fast...it’s pretty, I’d give it a 4.5, I’m just rambling to logically justify to myself my intense internal pull away from the 5. Mouthfeel solid, nothing special, nothing wanting. Great brew. fidelis83 (729), Clinton, Iowa, USA

Aroma is roast, oats, a little hardwood smoke, deark chocolate, light roast coffee, tobacco pipe smoke and roasted nuts. Flavor is lots of roast, roasted nuts, fantastic dark roast coffee, some char, hazelnut butter, toasted wood, dark caramel, light toffee, vanilla and some sweet straw. Finish is roast, toasted wood, cocoa, espresso, herbal and bitter hops. Palate is medium thickness, very smooth, creamy feel, nice light carbonation and a slightly oily finish. Fantastic stuff all around. KnN (751), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA

Pours almost jet black with dark red/brown edges and a tan head that leaves lots of lacing. Aroma is wonderful with strong chocolate and espresso. Flavour is similar with a little bitterness plus hints of caramel and nuts. A little thinner in the mouth than I was expecting but still a great stout all round.
