Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Black colour, fully opaque with a full brown head (poured from Nitrogen). Smells of oatmeal, roasted malt and a bit of coffee! Medium-bodied. Coats the mouth, bitterness is great, strong sweetness & roasted malt (oatmeal) flavour. Aftertaste bittered from the roasted characteristics, but very nice! Sweet notes in the finish as well. A great beer all-around! I had this pint on draught at the Winking Judge in Hamilton, Ontario with Josh (Oakes) and Scott (Publican) on 13-September-2003.

Lovely aroma of coffee, chocolate, berries, port. Very pleasant. Pours a opaque black, tan head that dissipates. Good lacing. Up front the flavour is sweet chocolate, coffee. Tangy astringent finish and a hoppy bite. I liked the smooth taste and lack of harsh bitterness that is present in alot of stouts. Body is so-so, but overall one solid stout.

This is one of the best Stouts I have had. It has large nice head, very nicely balanced and leaves a nicely balanced hoppy, moccha aftertaste. Thanks Doug Shoemaker

A gorgeous nearly opaque black with mahogany highlights and a thick lasting frothy brown head. They dont come any better looking than this one. Powerful aroma of espresso, chocolate, molassess, vanilla, and roast with hints of bourbon and cardboard. Medium creamy body with a moderate amount of carbonation. Powerful flavor of roast, vanilla, coffee, oatmeal, and chocolate. An excellent beer. Huge thanks to Rastacouere!

Bottle from Beerhugger. Really nice stout!!! Deep black in color. Brown head fades down to ring the edge of the glass. Good lacing. Aroma is bittersweet, lots of deeply roasted malts involved. Bits of chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied. Very chocolatey and coffee in flavor. Smooth and rich mouthfeel. Very nicely done.

One of my favorite beer. Plenty of Dark Chocolate flavour, a bit of coffee, very smooth. Very enjoyable.

A very slow pour, with a thick head. You can taste the mixture of coffee and chocolate that stays in your mouth for a lon time.

Thanks to aabrewer for sending me this one. The St. Ambroise is one of the best looking beers I have ever seen. This is how a beer should look after being poured--huge black body topped by a huge tan head that sits up there with no intentions of going anywhere anytime soon. The head leaves tons of lacing on the glass all the way down. The aroma is sweet chocolate. The taste is more coffee-like than chocolate I think. The mouthfeel was a bit thin I thought, but it was also very creamy at the same time. Not as sweet as I had expected from reading the other reviews--but still sweeter than most stouts. A very solid stout to be sure."
