Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Bottled. All I can say is WOW! This is one of the most complex tasting beers I’ve had in a while. It pours black with virtually no head. If you hold it up to the light (besides almost looking like an eclipse) it looks a bit burgundy in colour. The first sip is decieving. After a few sips you’re completely addicted as you start to taste some burnt malt, coffee with maybe a small hint of chocolate and vanilla. It has a BRILLIANT finish leaving just the flavours in your mounth and not the bitterness. Best of all after about 20 mins there seems to be no aftertaste at all. I gave this beer a high rating largely because of the intoxicating aroma and wonderful appearence. I would still drink my Guinness anyday but this is like the dessert, the ultimate bled of flavour.

First stout i ever tried, and immediately loved it.. since I have tasted many others but none have defeated this one. Pours a thick and dark brown like any other stout but with a darker head than most others. Taste is a good balance of roasted coffee and chocolate and not too bitter, quite smooth actually.. another one of quebecs gems

This was the very first beer that made me realize how beautiful a stout can be. Prior to trying this, I had only had Guinness which resembles nothing of the same flavour of an Oatmeal Stout. Of course that was when I became legal age to drink and since then I have tried many many stouts, but when I tasted this one I decided I had to make an Oatmeal Stout at home... since then I have been brewing one for nearly 3 years.

Pours a murky black with a roasty caramel colored head. The aroma is wonderfully malty and bitter with hints of coffee/espresso. The flavor is an enjoyment from beginning to end, starting with some malt, slight sour with a sweet caramelly middle, finishing roasty and bitter with coffee, dark chocolate, espresso, and malt. We can’t forget the wonderfully creamy mouthfeel! Fantastic!

Draught at the pub St-Patrick, St-Alexandre and Cafe du Temps Perdu. Also several times from the bottle. Deep black. Coffee, chocolate, roastiness, oatmeal, cereals/grainy, caramel and a good hop presence (especially in the finish). Extremely creamy, heavy, visquous, almost oily. Amazing with dark bitter chocolate. A complex, yet very drinkable stout! Cheap and easily available year-round in the majority of beer stores and supermarket.

Poured from an 11.5oz bottle this ale is nearly opaque black in color with some red. Beautiful, thick 2 finger tan head. Smells of malt with hints of chocolate and coffee. Tastes the way it smells...wonderful. Excellent lacing on side of mug. Not as thick as many other oatmeal stouts, this is very drinkable. It’s a bit pricey(@ $11.50\6) but well worth splurging on.
