Cask conditioned handpump Cordwainer Northampton An amber coloured beer with a whitish head and lacing. There are biscuit notes in the nose and plain, earthy flavours in the mouth. Plain and simple and lacking the good hoppiness I’m used to from St Austell

Handpulled cask at JDW Hatch End. Chestnut brown with a beige head. Predominately malty with a touch of caramel and gentle english hops. Easy to drink.

Cask at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford, in ’Spoons BF ’09. Amber with a small white head. Very faint sweetness in aroma. Thick, cheerful malty taste and an agreeable mid bitter finish. Uncomplicated and enjoyable.

Cask Lord Keeper of the Great Seal, Oadby. Dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas are toffee malts with some nuttiness and grain. Flavours are sweet malt with earthy hops. Nutty with light Autumn fruit. A decent traditional bitter.

JDW Rochester. Tasty autumnal ale - smacks of crystal malt and lingering bitterness. Quite British. Quite traditional. And nicely done.

Cask-conditioned at a JDW in Reading 8/11/09. Deep amber in colour with a decent white head. Cereal malts and grassy hop aroma. Flavour began with a touch of red fruit sweetness, more cereals and a bittering hop finish. Enjoyable.
