JorisPPattyn (4493), Antwerpen, Belgium Oct 15, 2004 Very dark brown beer; yellow-brown head, creamy at first but dwindling. Sweet nuts, bread, buttery (but not diacetyl-like), leafy & yeasty aromas. Sweet-bitterish taste, but with a sourish balance (CO²?). Leafy and nutoil, dark malts, yeasty. Chestnut flour and bitter roasted malts retronasal. Very carbonated mouthfeel, nearly fizzy, tittilating, and much lighter bodied than than the flavour would suggest. Not half bad. A bit rough, but the balance is there. Better hops, less aggressive dark malts would do it no harm.
Tiny_Tim (20), Perth, Australia Sep 11, 2008 Poors deep amber, with a lively head. Aroma is rich and smooth. Tastes of soft chocolatey malts, well balanced, thankfully not too sweet. The alcohol is quite prevalent. goozen (763), Leiden, Netherlands Sep 6, 2008 Bottle 0,33ltr: One of the finer one in this Dubbel-style. Caramel taste and hints of chocolate. Yves (447), Beerse, Belgium Jun 1, 2008 Darkbrown coloured beer with small white head. Malty aroma. Sprankling creamy palate. Malty + bitter ending, some sweet hinds. oh6gdx (6331), Vaasa, Finland Apr 30, 2008 Bottled. Deep murky reddish brown colour with huge beige creamy head. Aroma is spices, caramel malts, some yeast and slightly metallicness. Flavour is fruity, sweet malty as well as bready and yeasty. Solid and wellbalanced brew.
