Bottle purchased from Jan’s Wine and Boos II (Lutz, FL) that included a nice collector’s tin. I couldn’t notice much of a difference between the Special Edition and the standard Abt 12, both are delicious. Great aroma and flavor, this one has it all. Makes me wish I lived in Belgium.

The standard abt 12 is imho an excellent beer, having said that, I liked the 60th anniversary as much or more. Great aroma of figs and belgian yeasts and I don’t know, but smells delicious. And the taste does not disappoint. Full bodied mouthful, with a depth and complexity that has you reaching for your glass for another sip before you have even put it down. The 11% is very well hidden. This delivers a classic belgian taste with a long lasting finish. Has the same type of robustness as Rocheforte 10, but less sweet.

This one is like the regular Abt 12 but a bit different... a bit smoky... not as sweet... but loaded with belgian goodness!

Wonderful stuff, and (obviously) very similar to the original Abt 12. Bottleworks put out a few more of these last week - it’s been in their cellar for more than two years, now. Pours a tad lighter than the original Abt - more of a dark, burnt caramel color. Big, frothy Belgian head. The other thing you notice right away is the amount of sediment - there’s quite a bit in there. Aroma is great - caramel, spices, figs and bananas and a bit of brandy. Flavor is much the same (let it warm, though, otherwise it won’t show well enough). Dark, roasty malts shine over a very slight hop bitterness. The malts are a it darker in this brew - more reminiscent of the notes you get from a stout - they’re even a bit smoky. It also isn’t quite as sweet, and has a bit drier mouthfeel. Absolutely wonderful, but I actually missed some of the sweetness of the original (I’m a fan of the Rochefort 10 - powerfully sweet). This one has novelty going for it, but I’m not sure I liked it quite as well as the original.

A dark brown beer with a huge creamy head. Lots of aromas of spices, flowers, and roasted malts. The flavor was to follow with a delicious spicyness and a lingering sweetness. The hop character seems slightly more defined in this than in the original. The alcohol is very plesant but adds to the character of the brew. I’m keeping another bottle for about ten years!

Bomber poured into my St. Bernardus chalice produced a big fluffy tan head that lasted through my whole wonderful experience. Reddish to amber brown body that looked great in the glass Aromas of roasted malts, spices, dark fruits along with nice bread dough smell Flavors of dark fruits, malts, spices (pepper), along with an alcohol warmth as it finishes. Nice rich mouthfeel great carbonation smooth comes to mind Very drinkable glad I grabbed a few of these to keep for a while

The bottle looks really good, no label, everthing’s printed on the bottle. Looks really good in the glass, fine aroma. Tastes malty and strong, becomes not penetrating. A little note of chocolate. Very interesting and good beer!
