Aroma is dark and malty with raisin, plum, banana, spice, and candy sugar. Delicious and complex. Dark fruit, belgian yeast, spices, banana, and brown sugar. Maybe a little to much carbonation, but I’m not complaining. Quite a nice abt. jdhunt76 (56), Winter Springs, Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 21, 2007 Bottle. Dark brown pour with touches of deep purple. Foamy, lacey head. Wine-like aroma. A lot of flavor from the Belgian yeast with esters of blackberry, grape and prune. Great Belgian, but not quite as interesting to the palate as the standard Abt 12. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA

Sweet Belgian aroma. Sweet flavor of cane sugar, raisens, banana, & dark fruit. Traces of vanilla. Very fresh; good effervesence. Loog sweet finish. Shared this w/some friends sitting around a campfire @ the end of a great day conoeing; enjoyed by all, even the non beer geeks. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 17, 2007 thanks cmubeerman. i don’t know how this beer gets to be over a 4 on this site. i was actually sitting there thinking it was a lot worse than the westy 12 which is supposed to be the same recipe. a little overcarbonated for me, a bit thin. candyish, alcoholic and bready. the same thing as the regular bernardus 12. i don’t even think there was a whole ton of dark fruit in this. it was more like spices and honey and raisins. boo.
