Jan 16, 2007 I feel like this could have used some more time in the bottle. It was a gift, and over the holiday season I was really wanting to drink it. Very sweet, dark, and bitter at the same time. Lots of yeast, but not as citrusy as I had hoped. It lacks a hoppy note, but is still a very well crafted beer and I’m sure it would get better with time.

Jan 15, 2007 Slight haze, amber body with big off-white head, lasting and nice lacing. The aroma is banana, clove, musty and grapes. The flavor is golden raisins, caramel and banana. Medium/light body with soft carbonation and a fairly thin mouthfeel. Warm finish.

Jan 14, 2007 Deep brown color, tall frothy cream-colored foam. Great head retention and lace. Aroma of rum-soaked fruits (raisin, plum, date, and fig).
A delicious beer with bready malt, toffee malt, plum, anise, light molasses, and brown sugar. A wisp of a smoky texture (this looks a little out of place in print, perhaps, but was actually quite delightful). Nice full body, very drinkable.

Jan 12, 2007 Dark amber brown pour with a nice frothy head. Smells of banana esters, bread, and hints of cinnamon and alcohol. Tastes like banana nut bread and brandy. Medium body with a fair amount of carbonation.

Jan 12, 2007 A nice dark body with a good aroma, somewhat different from the regular Abt 12th. The additional hops in this beer tended to detract from the overall experience and flavor that the normal Bernardus has but at the same time is different. However at the same time, it’s a very nice beer.

Jan 11, 2007 Very big lasting cloudy head. Trappist aroma. Belgian yeast and baking soda start turns into a nice hoppy foamy drink. Interesting hop flavour like an IPA mixed with an Abt 12.
