Pours a merky brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma is very complex. I notice a lot of variaties of scents, how about dark fruit, caramel. vanilla, plum, yeast, and raisin to name a few.
I thought the aroma was complex, heh, the flavor takes on a whole new definition to the word. With notes of toffee, malts, yeast, caramel, figs, dark fruit, nut and wine. Extremely smooth and drinkable for 10.5%. Well worth the wait.

Giving way slowly and producing nice lacing. The aroma was malt, toffee, nut raisin, chocolate, yeast and earth. The flavor was tart raisin, chocolate, malt and toffee. Some yeast too. Pleasant warming alcohol. Terrific mouthfeel. World Class. Benjiehorn (15), Chicago, Illinois, USA

A fantastic malty beer with lots of dark fruit flavors and aromas present. Poured this one into my Chimay goblet, and let it oxidize slightly to give off more complexity to the layers of flavor. Some nice ripe cherries, currants, plum, and a bit of spice hidden in there. At 10% this 750ml bottle is an excellent treat to be savored! bity (7), Pueblo, Colorado, USA does not count | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Nov 29, 2008 Incredible beer! | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Appearance: dark brown to mahogany color. Big head, rocky, dense, beige and lasting.
Aroma: a perfume of plums and cherries, as well as other ripe and red fruits like berries, candied apples and raisins. Background smells of caramel malts, vanilla and a bit of chocolate, clove and citric fruits. Vinous and whit cherry’s liquor reminiscences.
Flavor: complex from the start. Sweety-toasty notes from the malts, intensive and varied fruitiness. I imagine a fleshy, ripe and sweet plums and cherry. Also, other fruits like figs, raisins and tannins. Reminiscences of dark-tea, clove, some of bitter chocolate, coffee, vanilla and tobacco. Complex and medium final dryness with notes of medicinal herbs, roast malts and fernet. Wine touch like syrah. The sweetness hides the alcoholic degree.
Palate: medium to full body with oily texture. Low to medium carbonation.
Remark: a marvelous beer, very fruity and complex, with good body and dryness. A exquisite fruit. Chrism86 (279), Melbourne, Australia

Upon opening this was a gusher! Had to leave for a good 10 mins before i was able to get a decent pour. No matter, i was more than happy to wait!
Eventually poured a murky red/brown with mahogany highlights and a substantial tan coloured head. Aromas of rum & raisin seem most evident with figs, nuts and big yeast spice. Palate is brilliantly balanced as well as being smooth and creamy, despite drinking at room temp. The mid palate brought some sweetness with honey, caramel and dark fruits. The finish displays a heap of both abv & yeast spice. The rather high ABV never crossed my mind, impeccable balance!
