One of my highest ratings so far has been given to their Apt 12. With this one I was not really expecting anything great based on the other reviews and the style but I was pleasantly surprised. I really like this. It has a nice creamy head that, like many other belgians, seems to be alive. Pours a nice brown color. Unlike many of the other belgians I have tried this one does not hit you over the head with alcohol taste making it very drinkable. Subtle flavorings of spice and fruit. Can’t wait to taste the other St Bernardus to see if this trend continues. keepersj12 (816), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 9, 2009 Had a medium brown golden pour with a light tan head. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel, and malt sweetness. Light roasted and low dark fruit noticed in the malty body. Had a slightly dry finish. Good brew but not spectacular. Beer info: Bottled in brown 330ml bottle 6.7% abv bb 11 04 11
Sampling Notes:
Served lightly chilled in chalice.
Bit of a gusher. Pours a biggish offwhite mess of dense foam atop a murky sort of coppy body.
Fruit cake sort of nose. Brown sugar, bready yeast, sweet cake, dried apricot and sultana. Bit of alcohol and grassiness in the background.
Smooth, creamy mouthfeel, carbonation is pretty low, medium bodied. Slight alcohol dryness on the finish.
Brown sugar-like malt body, hints of orange and dried fruit. Bread and cake, with a bit of grass on a dry and quite bitter finish.
Seemed a bit too easy to drink. Nice enough sort of Belgian pale ale, not overly complicated or strong, probably why it goes down so well. RHeastings (433), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Mar 6, 2009 Enjoyed via 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep brown with an ivory to light tan head. Nose is rich with dark fruits and high crystal (80-120) malts. The palate certainly does not disappoint, with wonderful notes of raison, silightly burnt candy, and a nice spritzy carbonation. The finish is a great blend of sweet and dry. jumpjet2k (169), Austin, Texas, USA

Somewhat thin, carbonated mouthfeel. Flavor is somewhat malty and plenty spicy. Not bad. finol (528), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden

Plum-greyish colour with a smal head. A lot like the 8 but with a thiner (to thin) body. Some sweet flavour with a resemblance with Listerine...
