Pours a dark caramel amber with a medium, yet well retained light frothy brown head. Smells of big Belgian yeast, candy sugar, sweet dark fruits including plums and figs. Very Belgian smelling, quite standard. The flavor is much the same, good amount of sweet fruits to it, in fact that was mostly what I got. Decent amount of Belgian candy sugar and yeast. Very standard Belgian ale, but good flavor, nice palate, solid.

Red/brown with a nice, creamy head that leaves a nice lace. The aroma has notes of yeast, caramel and hops. The mouthfeel is thin and the carbonation is high. The initial flavours are roasted malt, plum, caramel, citrus and bitterness. The two latter lasts during the long finish, where I also find a brief notes of caramel.

Bottle from a St. Bernardus variety pack. A dark reddish brown color with tan head. Nice lacing on the glass. Caramel and sugary tastes dominate with an alcohol aftertaste. Definitely the lesser, slightly water-downed version of the St Bernardus belgians, but it was decent overall.

330ml pours slightly hazy, yet clean ruby-mohogany. fluffy adequate bubbly head. floral aroma followed by raw dough. however, as it warms, the aromas are less muted, and the complexity reveals itself. taste? vanilla, cream, garden-like flowers, intense fruit, though unsweet. slight white raisin taste, good overall. smooth on the palate.

(New Year’s Eve tasting Flight (1 of 4) Pours a funky brown color. Not necessarily funky bad, its just not a standard brown like I’m used to seeing. When held up to light it is hazy orange in nature. Head builds quickly, but disapates quickly too. Leaves a small amount of lace around the glass. Somewhat raisiny aroma. After its warmed up slightly there’s an almost cinnamin-like quality to it. Very nice flavor. Light alcohol lingering on palate. Thinnish body. Warming on the back of the tongue and throat about a minute after tasting first sips.

Dirty brown with small head and great lacing. Flowery nose with malty grains and raisin, cinnamon and yeast. Flavor is pretty standard with some nuts and ginger thrown in there as well.

Amazing lacing on this beer. Color wise, it pours similar to it big brother (Abt 12), muddy brown, with an amber tinge. Aroma is quite nice and complex. Flowers are the first note that hits me, followed by vanilla, raisin, ginger, anise, cinnamon and some yeast and very very slight cereal notes. Flavor is pleasant and refreshing, but nothing to special. Has a nutty finish. I poured one glass at 38F and one at the recommended 48F. I find that it tastes better at the colder 38, but the aroma really comes alive at proper cellar temperatures.

Pours out very nice, but leaves a very small head, however the lacing is very strong. It’s very dark and ruby red with purple. The smell is nice and flowery at first, but then was coverd by a grainy smell. The taste is a little more balanced and as it warms the balance equals out. The mouthfeel is very smooth.
