| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 6, 2007 Poured from a 330 ml bottle into a trappist glass, cloudy deep amber with a thin head. Aroma was of grapes and sweet dark fruit. The taste was sweet with touches of dark fruit, malt, licorace and prune. There was a touch of dryness as it warmed. A good beer, but falls short of ABT 12 . | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 4, 2007 Beer pours cloudy dark amber color with a retained, creamy beige colored head. Aroma is more like liquid bread than any other I have smelled. Very bready with raisin aromas and earthy yeastiness. Maybe just my mood or whatever, but the flavor on this one is exceptional. Flavor of light chocolate, earth/yeast, raisins, lots of breadiness. I am thinking this is super yummy!!! Palate is perfect as with many Belgians. Carl99Fan (186), Suwanee, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 2, 2007 Dark ice tea color. Lots of flotsam. Poured with almost no head. Carbonated taste, almost soda like. Not bad. Very tasty. Another beer I’d like to have available for company. Goes down smooth and quick...may I have another please. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 30, 2007 Medium chocolatey aroma, with a light touch of persimmon and apricot, with very light phenol and alcohol. Brown color, shading toward orange with a large high carbonation head. Hmm, very smooth and soft in palate, slightly vinous with notes of butterscotch. Bready, a bit like pumpernickel. Moderately hot going down. Its good, really good, but I think could be better. JoeinUccle (911), Brussels, Belgium
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 25, 2007 Lovely dark brown color with copper highlights, faint malty-brown sugar aroma, maltier flavor with some cider elements, roast coffee finish with some hops. Smooth and very drinkable. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 22, 2007 Mostly clear brown amber colored body. Doughy brown sugar in the nose, spicy bread crust and charred dark candy sugar. A bit oily and vinuous up front, more frothy and crisp over the middle into a toasty charred finish. Yeast and dough esters consume the finish. A great beer, somewhere between a dubbel and the nondescript Belgian strong category, it’s toasty and rough but still delicious.
