Aroma of figs, apples, cinnamon, spices. Flavor and mouthfeel are two-tiered - a sharp carbonation on top carries the spiciness, but the smooth maltiness rests below. Interesting beer. finol (505), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 27, 2009 Pours a thick and cloudy brown/amber color with a thick head. Aroma is figs, sugar and other dark fruits. Flavor is light on the spices and heavy on raisin and sweet roasted malts. CapnCascade (116), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 24, 2009 Pours dark hazy brown with lots of floaties, wispy beige head with minimal lacing. Aroma initially presents a promising hint of caramelized sugar, yeast, and biscuit but then develops damp grains and dish soap. Flavour is mostly carbonation, unfortunately, with a slight hint of dark fruit and spice. I think I may need a new bottle of this stuff based on what everyone else seems to be saying here. Mouthfeel is watery and devoid of character. Disappointing. mgermani (865), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 24, 2009 Pours a murky deep dark amber with flocculent floaties, a thin suggestion of foam and some lacing. There’s that damn damp grain aroma again which seems prevalent in the Watou beers. Sweet and spicy body with a fleeting finish. Cherry/kirsch, brown sugar, oaty grains, musty hops. Creamy slightly over-carbonated body. This watery non-agressive beer hardly tastes like a strong ale at all, but is quite quaffable and I do like that signature St. Bernardus creaminess. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 23, 2009 Pours a deep opaque/brown with a dense, thick head – almost as thick as whipping cream - excellent lace, coats the side of the glass. Aroma is of pineapples, vanilla, buttercream, brown sugar, and a little mustiness. Wow. Medium/heavy mouth-feel with a dense creaminess. On the front there is some fruity sweetness which gives way to a little spice (some vanilla and cloves) and a mellow tart finish. All in all, an excellent example. nickd717 (1358), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 22, 2009 Bottle from City Beer in SF. Cloudy dark brown color with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet malt and dark fruits. Flavor is nice buy not incredibly well-balanced in my opinion. Flavor is sweet malt, raisins, fig, and banana with a grainy, bitter hop finish. Nice lively, medium-full palate.
