aroma is yeasty and a little nutty. pours dark brown with a light tan head. flavor is somewhat tart and sweet, flavors of apples and belgan yeast. i really have trouble putting my finger on flavors in belgan beers, but i do know that I enjoyed this beer and would seek it out again

Served at about 56F, maybe a little too warm. Poured a great deep hazy brown like the label states. Smelled sweet of raisins or plums, as well as malt and a hint of alcohol. Perhaps some chocolate. Taste reflects the smell to a tee w/o the chocolate. Mouthful is creamy with some carbonation. Great brew.

Pour a murky brown with big white head. Sweet aroma with notes of yeast, fruit, light notes of alcohol. Flavor comes across heavy on bread, maybe a little banana, light spice. Very nice brew.

Bottle. Pours a dark brune with a tan huge head. Lots of fruity plum, caramel notes, with a berry seed note, and a hint of licorice. Figs, and some toffee with a light alcohol warming. Great Beer.

bottle bb12/26/12 consumed 9/20/09. pours out about 50% foam on top of a sea monkey-like yeast community in a bath of reddish brown.... lots of yeast, over carbonation, foamy lacing. smells vinous.... over ripe plums (without tartness) and grapes mixed with chocolate, malt powder, vanilla, spice and flowers. some banana-like esters show up in the flavor and are met with vanilla, chocolate, spices, caramelized brown sugar and pancake batter with a dry slightly acidic finish. the alcohol is definitely noticeable... wasn’t expecting it though. the body is medium but thickens a bit when the yeast sludge gets mixed in toward the bottom of the glass. carbonation is high, prickly and a bit awkwardly sudsy...odd. need a rerate 7/4/7/2/14/3.5

Dark brown with a foamy thick and lasting off-white head. Aroma of toffee, some malts, a bit like a good walk through a beatiful autumn forest. Very delicate complex taste, desireably sweet and spicy. Medium carbonation. Long bittersweet finish. Delicious beer.

Bottle, 33 cl. Dark beer with a beige medium head, creamy, light unstable (becoming little lasting head). Aroma of malt and light caramel, not very strong smell however. Malty taste with a light hop bitter finish. Another good one in the serie of St Bernardus, although certaintly not the best.

33cL Bottle -- Pour chocolate brown with an off-white head. Roasted malts, milk chocolate like a tootsie roll, and caramel are the first flavors to hit the palate. Some roasted coffee bean and cherry on the finish. Carbonation is a little much for me on a beer like this. Full and almost creamy upfront with the darker flavors lasting for a good while.
