Commercial Description:
This beer, with high fermentation, has a pale amber colour and a flowery, fruity taste with a harmonious balance between sweet and sour (8% alcohol content). This beer has a thick and vivid froth and strikes by its balanced taste with a delicate bitterness.

Bottle, bought @ Magasin, Cph.
[vintage 2005]
Pours a hazy coppery amber with a frothy white head. It settles a bit, gets denser and more creamy. Streams of big bubbles reach lazily for the foam. Aroma is pleasantly sweet with a heavy dose of yeast. Lots of oranges peep through. Some overripe apple notes. Wonderful creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is truly magnificent. Quite sweet with a very slight fruity tartness. The apples appear again mixed with tartish oranges. Yeast dominate the finish with a nice warming sensation.

05/04 @ Hopdevil. Zagreb. 0.33 l bottle which poured murky golden orange body with medium to bigger white head. Lot of things in its nice aroma, fruity orange, lemon and pear in combination with banana like yeast. Also a bit dusty and some leather, but not really in a bad way. Flavor nice as well, but not exactly as aroma, bittersweet with fruits mentioned. Alcohol can be hinted. Finish is nice bittersweet gradually turning into sweeter. All in all, nice tripel.

Pours a hazy golden color. You could call it tan, brown, orange, yellow, golden, flat out murky and I don’t think any answer is wrong. Very thick foamy head that leaves a lot of lacing on the glass. Subtle hints of fruit spice and yeast in the aroma but nothing that’ll just jump out at you. A very nice blend of citrus, spice, malt with a nice little alcohol presence in the flavor. A little tang and tart in the finish and aftertaste which is surely a sign of the alcohol content. I like it.

Poured a nice golden blonde hue with a frothy white head which had great lacing and retention. Aroma was fruity mainly banana notes, some yeast notes. Flavor was similar, nothing spectacular or unique. Carbonation was present on the palate, other wise palate was mediocre.

From a 750ml bottle - first glass smelled skunky, was only slightly cloudy, nice visible carbonation and fantastic fluffy head which left behind generous amounts of lace. Taste was a bit skunky and bitter as well. 2nd glass, consumed the following day, mellowed out, skunky smell was replaced by some spiciness, and the taste wasn’t as skunky or bitter. Since I poured the sediment in as well this time, the beer was an extremely cloudy yellow. The head was not as impressive, possible due to lost carbonation. A decent beer, but due to the initial skunky experience and secondary average experience I give this a score just above average.

11.2oz bottle, poured gold/amber color with very frothy white head. Head was mostly lasting and left good lacing. Aroma was very malty, with hints of flowers and sweet fruit (grapes, apples, pears). Taste was moderately sweet, body was medium/full, murky, and fizzy. Delicious beer!

33cl bottle. Gushed out a hazy amber orange color with a lasting fluffy head. Plenty of sediment suspended. Sweet nectary aroma, real fruity, slightly tart, dusty dough, and some pepper. tastes like orange marmalade and apricots. Really candy-like, but the tartness pulls the sweetness in a little, though it remains quite sweet and fruity throughout. The body is a little sticky and sugary, but feels smooth on the tongue. About middle of the road thickness. Good stuff, but tripels never really leave me fully satisfied.

a tad dark for a tripel, typical of st. bernardus. also expected is the dark frutiness that does well to cover their often strong. nice bit of belgian spice and murky yeast makes this a unique tripel and another great st. bernardus.
