Aroma is appley sweet with cloves. Taste is way drier than the aroma would suggest, and has a metallic hop finish. Other than that, there is not much to it. Somewhat disappointing from one of my favorite breweries. $8/22oz PhillyHomeBrew (176), Forest Hills, New York, USA

Has a very yeast filled aroma with a little bit of spice and noble hops aroma- from the saaz. The flavor has a little bit of bubblegum taste with a nice bit of sweetness- like honey on the end. yespr (12184), Copenhagen O, Denmark
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 14, 2007 33 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange and with fine yeast sediments floating around, has a lasting off-white head. Classic belgian yeast spiced aroma. Flavour holds a classic belgian spiced yeast flavour and with mild caramel malt base. Delicate yet faint compared to many other more flavourful belgian tripels. MoritzF (4961), Bochum, Germany
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 14, 2007 (33cl bottle, bought a couple of years ago, still bb: June 08) Hazy, orange-golden coloured hue with loads of particles and a thick and persistent foamy white head. Sweet bready (cara-)malty aroma with rather subtle fruity (pears) notes, coriander-spice and noticeable alcohol. Sweet flavour, bready and slightly grainy caramel-malty taste spiced with notes of coriander; full bodied with a lively but pleasant carbonation; medium-dry, sweet-bitter finish with a present but non-disturbing alcoholic touch. A decent Tripel. Beltramelli (471), Campinas, Brazil

The taste is of hops and spicies with a sweet finish. The aroma is also of hops but I could smell a bit of citrus to go along with the sweetness. Ingy (100), candler, North Carolina, USA

Tried a Westmalle Tripel at Resto in NYC and found it quite nice. This was it’s equal, well balanced with only a hint of sweetness. Love that smiling monk.
