| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 12, 2007 In short: Excellent classic hoppy Tripel
How: Tasting session at brother’s place. 750ml Bottle, fresh. Side-by-side St-Bernardus Tripel and St-Bernardus Watou Tripel
The look: Cloudy yellow-blonde body with a medium white head.
In long: Yet another great beer from St-Bernardus. Fruity yeast and well malted. Bready with bananas in crisp honey. Side-by-side with her sister the St-Bernardus Watou Tripel the similarities were as apparent as the differences. The Watou Tripel was going a bit more in the crisp sweet malt, crusty grandma lemon-pie. This one is going more in direction of a Westmalle Tripel with a generous noble hopping. A bit less complex but with a nice grassier taste and nice drier finish. I couldn’t decide which one I preferred. This is a classic brewery interpreting a classic style in a classic fashion. That’s like the Rolling Stones doing an acoustic cover of Stairway to Heaven. elgiacomo (96), Chickamauga, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 11, 2007 750ml bottle. Pours a golden amber with a fizzy white 1-2 finger head that dissipates to a 1/8" head that retains to the bottom of the glass. Nice lacing. Aroma is yeast, fruit (banana), some spice/pepper. Flavor is sweet, more banana, spice, yeast. Mouthfeel is quite pleasant, just the right amount of carbonation. Finishes dry. Alcohol is incredibly well hidden. I’m more of a fan of Quads/Dubbels (LOVE their Abt 12), but I still enjoyed this Tripel from St. Bernardus. shakespeare33 (120), san diego, California, USA

I guess Im just not an abbey tripel kinda guy... ah. troysworktable (109), Washington, USA

Melted butter color. Major aromas and flavors include flowers, lemon, straw, black pepper. Primary flavor is lemony-peppery-floral. Sweetness that dries as it goes. Okay. I can appreciate it, just not my "cup of tea"/"glass of ale."
