Strong smell of nuts, grapes, and cherry. Taste is of nuts, dark fruit, and toffee. A little different, but not bad. Plenty of carbonation and full bodied. Decent, didn’t have trouble finishing the glass, but there are other examples I’d probably rather have. Worth a try BeerVirgin72 (814), Pataskala, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 6, 2008 Received as a gift set with two other St. Feuillien brewfrom a non beer geek friend. Thanks Dave! Poured from bottle. Color was burnt orange and amber. Smell was all sweetness and malts. Taste was much milder then expected. Carbonated. Sweet caramel and malts. Very light mouthfeel. Very little finish. I liked the over all feel of this, but wish it had just a bit more something... KimJohansen (7131), Copenhagen V, Denmark

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 31, 2007 A cork pops with enthusiasm and here I pour a beautiful, hazy bronze beer with a vermillion glow... lightly carbonated under a soft, thick, cookie-dough colored head which holds forever. Its aroma is suggestive of the cellar – dank and mysterious with earth and soft, rotting wood. Deeper notes of caramel and pitted fruit add a sense of sweetness (as well as a level of comfort and familiarity). The fruitiness of cherry & peach also enhances the "darkness" of its flavor. Old leaves, thin whisky, hint of nickel. Full-bodied and fluffy in the mouth with a mild stickiness to let these tasteful memories linger for quite some time.
I started on RateBeer three years ago today. And while I have made it a habit to rate a Unibroue beer on New Year’s Eve (and to compile a total of 666 ratings per year), 2007 has slipped away from me and my rating habits are far from the only things to have gone all "willy-nilly". Regardless, St. Feuillien Brune was a fine note with which to end the year, and I look forward to many more delicious adventures like this one in ’08.
