Commercial Description:
This brown ale has a marked ruby brown colour with a generous and lasting head. It has a distinctive aroma reflecting the wide range of ingredients used in its production. The fruitiness resulting from its fermentation blends harmoniously with a dominant liquorice and caramel flavour. The body is decidedly malty. The bitterness is the result of a complex alchemy between the fine hops and special malts used. These give St Feuillien Brune a typical dark chocolate appearance.

750 ml bottle purchased at Wine on the 9. Pours a cloudy mud colored brown with a nice size light biege head that never fully disipates. Big sweet initial aroma with lots of yeast, raisin, sugar and brown bread. Medium bodied with noticable carbonation on the back of your throat that is slightly biting. Flavor is not as sweet as the nose would lead you to believe. Grainy bready flavor with notes of yeast, dark fruit and brown sugar. While this is a good beer it is not great but then again neither is my vertical leap.

This beer pours a gorgeous pillowy head that falls into a little head with a lacing that’s stuck to the glass. Color is dark and clear amber when held up to the light. The smell is very hoppy and strong with very flowery hops. It has a slight sugar candy smell to it, and it also has a nutty flavor to it. Taste is fairly hoppy with many flavors, like a big nutty flavor. It has a slight scent of banana for a flavor, but that is overpowered by so many other flavors.

Impressiona o aroma e o paladar de malte. No aroma, além do malte, café torrado e presença de álcool.

750 ml bottle intended for our dubbel tasting but overlooked in my lack of beer cellar. So after some extended bottle conditioning in andrew’s fridge, its finally popped.
Pours a reddish brown with a beige head. Fruity nose with malts and a touch of grain and sour. Apples, red fruit, grains, and that touch of sour in the flavor. Meh.

(Rating #1368)

Had it in the 750ml bottle. Pours a deep reddish-brown with a really frothy head. Aroma really suprised me... lots of raspberries and cherries, little alcohol, with some light malt and yeast. The flavor had more of those suprising raspberries... it almost reminded me of Dogfish Head Fort, but without the strong alcohol presence. Not like any brown I’ve had before, if you’re looking for a regular brown this one isn’t for you, but if you like originality, try it. A really good beer.
