Commercial Description:
This brown ale has a marked ruby brown colour with a generous and lasting head. It has a distinctive aroma reflecting the wide range of ingredients used in its production. The fruitiness resulting from its fermentation blends harmoniously with a dominant liquorice and caramel flavour. The body is decidedly malty. The bitterness is the result of a complex alchemy between the fine hops and special malts used. These give St Feuillien Brune a typical dark chocolate appearance.

Close to bbf Complex mainly fruity/yeasty aroma with fine notes of wine, herbs and cream. Flavor is broad, with a mixed burned malt/dusty hop bitterness and a wide range of fruity easters giving it its sweetness. Smooth broad and wellbalanced

Bottle. Yep, it’s brown (well named). Muddy, reddish and almost rust-colored. The tight fizzy head-boiled away fairly quickly. The aroma is tart, but the beer drinks much more mellow. There’s a bit of an underlying tartness, but generally I found this sweet and malty, even with a hint of smoky nuttiness. (#3143, 10/14/2007)

foamy root beer like light brown head that tastes of alcohol and is only moderately substantive. beer and head settles SOMEWHAT QUICKLY down to a mainly raisin and malty brew that is moderately sweet and slick. a difference is that this belgian settles down nicely is earthy and actually is A bit refreshing. +2 points for that. couple minutes and the alcohol recedes appreciably, and a fruit aroma appears.

330ml bottle. Deep brown with a big beige head. Aroma of toffee, dates and prunes. Flavour of cloying sweet caramel with a deeply stewed aftertaste. Not my cup of tea.

Brown colored brew. Sweet malty aroma and flavor. A bit bitter, not much. Some dark chocolate. Palate is sticky. Overall a nice one.

Brown color with a large head. A little orange aroma. Strong, malty flavor with ample sugar. A bit of bitterness towards the end to spare it from being cloying. Nice.

Brown with massive head. Plenty of fruit and caramel malt in the aroma and body. From a cellars tasting.
