Commercial Description:
This brown ale has a marked ruby brown colour with a generous and lasting head. It has a distinctive aroma reflecting the wide range of ingredients used in its production. The fruitiness resulting from its fermentation blends harmoniously with a dominant liquorice and caramel flavour. The body is decidedly malty. The bitterness is the result of a complex alchemy between the fine hops and special malts used. These give St Feuillien Brune a typical dark chocolate appearance.

Bottle at Robbie’s in Daytona Beach, FL. Poured dark brown color with a large light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Good caramel malty aroma. Medium body with smooth texture. Full well balanced sweet fruity flavor with a medium complex finish of long duration. Good brew.

Dark brown, nice head and lacing. The aroma is malty with notes of plum. The flavour is sweet, malty with notes of plum, raisin, candy sugar and citrus, that is a nice counterweight to the sweetness.

Strong chocolate, malt and alcohol aroma. Taste was a little thiner than I expected, but nice. The flavor is chocolate and alcohol. Warm sensation from the pronounced fusel alcohol, but that doesn’t disturb. A nice beer overall.

Decent belgian dubbel but not the best that I have had. Poured a nice brown color with a malty taste and sweet finish.

Pours very murky reddish brown with a large foamy tan head. Aroma is yeasty and sweet, with notes of chocolate, banana, caramel, and just a hint of dark berries. Flavor has notes of anise, berries, caramel, chocolate, and just a bit of bitterness. Palate is medium, effervescent, and dry with some hints of lingering fruit. Lots of malt in this one, so the carbonation helps lighten it up a bit. Fairly balanced, but still a bit muddy in the complexity of the flavor. There is alot going on, but nothing seems to balance quite right. Still a pretty good dubbel, but I’ll take a Vertical Epic over this any day.
