Commercial Description:
This brown ale has a marked ruby brown colour with a generous and lasting head. It has a distinctive aroma reflecting the wide range of ingredients used in its production. The fruitiness resulting from its fermentation blends harmoniously with a dominant liquorice and caramel flavour. The body is decidedly malty. The bitterness is the result of a complex alchemy between the fine hops and special malts used. These give St Feuillien Brune a typical dark chocolate appearance.

Bottle. Brownish copper. Very nice example of the style. Perhaps a bit on the plain side, but very nice anyway.

Copper hued with a nice lasting head. On draught. Sticky-sweetness of caramel. An appealing amber that I wouldn’t say no to.

A searing pint with mellow, sweet caramel spirit, unfazed by its evil-jewel ruby appearence and generally awash in a fizzling head lasting far longer than my ability to pause between sips.

This bottled brew poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized long lasting bubbles that left behind a transparent brown colored softly carbonated body and a fair lacing. The aroma was very mildly malty. The mouth feel was smooth and mildly vinous. The flavor was very tasty with a nice smooth brown ale base.

750mL bottle, no date. Pours a hazy copper brown with a large beige head. Musty aroma along with some yeast, graham crackers, raisins, a little bit of toffee and nuts. Flavors are much the same, though some bitterness is present halfway through til the end. Has a stout/porter chalky finish to it. As this warms up, yeasty sourness is more apparentAlcohol is noticeable, though not too warm. Medium bodied. Not too bad.

11.2 oz bottle. Clear burgundy with a dirty tan bubbly head; fades. Plum sauce, concord grapes and treacle. Sweet raisin goes slightly bitter and sour to hold off cloying. Body a little thin with light carb. Simple, good.

Fine dark brown clour, smalls like an old ale. Rich flavour, sweet & sour in the way the Belgians do so well. A very respectable abbey ale!
