An appealing amber that I wouldn’t say no to. actualproof (1), New York, New York, USA does not count | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 30, 2006 A searing pint with mellow, sweet caramel spirit, unfazed by its evil-jewel ruby appearence and generally awash in a fizzling head lasting far longer than my ability to pause between sips. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 26, 2006 This bottled brew poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized long lasting bubbles that left behind a transparent brown colored softly carbonated body and a fair lacing. The aroma was very mildly malty. The mouth feel was smooth and mildly vinous. The flavor was very tasty with a nice smooth brown ale base. iowaherkeye (1869), Los Angeles, California, USA

Musty aroma along with some yeast, graham crackers, raisins, a little bit of toffee and nuts. Flavors are much the same, though some bitterness is present halfway through til the end. Has a stout/porter chalky finish to it. As this warms up, yeasty sourness is more apparentAlcohol is noticeable, though not too warm. Medium bodied. Not too bad. Plum sauce, concord grapes and treacle. Sweet raisin goes slightly bitter and sour to hold off cloying. Body a little thin with light carb. Simple, good. KnutAlbert (3217), Oslo, Norway
