Commercial Description:
This brown ale has a marked ruby brown colour with a generous and lasting head. It has a distinctive aroma reflecting the wide range of ingredients used in its production. The fruitiness resulting from its fermentation blends harmoniously with a dominant liquorice and caramel flavour. The body is decidedly malty. The bitterness is the result of a complex alchemy between the fine hops and special malts used. These give St Feuillien Brune a typical dark chocolate appearance.

Fine dark brown clour, smalls like an old ale. Rich flavour, sweet & sour in the way the Belgians do so well. A very respectable abbey ale!

Dark brown coloured, small off white head. Sweet malty aroma, some caramel like. Full creamy body. Finish is light bitter, some sweet and again a little caramel. Pretty good one.

750ml bottle - Dated 2004

I must have had this beer in my cellar for 2 years… and just finally got around to drinking it.
Pours a rusty brown body and a tall rocky slightly off white head. The aroma and flavor offer especially earthy suggestions of toffee, honey-nut wheat bread, and a dusty sort of yeasty-ness. There was some mildly fruity mention of dates and plums, accompanied by a nutty finish. The palate had a pleasant effervescence, spritzy, with a mildly sweet biscuity finish. A rather good brew, but nothing too exciting overall.

Amber with nice tan head. The aroma is a peatey malt and tea. the flavors are sweet and malty. There are roasted and toasty malts. Yeast is presant and there is a bit of warmth on the finish.

the nose to this beer is immediately bourbon and coffee liqueor, the taste is sweet, fruity, with a really nice finish of caramel. nothing is overly great in comparison to neighborhood beers but it is a solid and very drinkable beer.

Bottle. Dark brown cloudy body topped with a thin brown bubbly head. Wonderful and complex vineous aroma with toffee and plummy notes. Taste is rubust, complex, and warm. Various fruity and sweet hints. Ends with a long warming finish. Very enjoyable winter beer.

Hazy brown hue, with a frothy tan-colored head, with a rich sweet malty nose of caramelized malt, toasted malt, brown sugar, with notes of dark dried fruit, like dates, prunes, figs, with a chocolatey accent, reminiscent of a fruitcake. Follows through on a full-bodied palate with sweet toasted and caramel malt character, with a toffeish note, dried dark fruit flavors, from dates, prunes, with brown sugar, molasses, chocolate sweetness. Finishes on a sweet malty brandyish alcoholic note.

Bottle. Large tan fizzy head that mostly diminished, sparse lacing, no visible carbonation, transparent, and a red brown hue. Nose was malty, sweet, cherry and hops. Flavor was sweet, malty, hoppy, and caramel. Smooth palate. Light body.
