Beige head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Dried fruit and almond aromas. Full with booze soaked chocolate-covered raisins and a lasting licorice finish. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 17, 2009 Sample at 3rd Annual Great Austin Belgian Beer Festival on May 16, 2009. Losing memory for the review (too many samples by this time), but I did manage to write down the numbers. Sour nose, sour brown flavor. Very good. Gotta keep this one in mind next time I’m shopping for a Belgian. marcus (1869), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 3, 2009 This ruby ale poured with a massive tan head and I had to wait a few minutes to get to the liquid. There is a strong malt aroma emanating from a tasty blend of caramel, chocolate and licorice. The finish is a little harsh, but otherwise an excellent brew. BVery (471), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 14, 2009 On tap. Big, alcoholic chemical aroma, oxidized cherry pits and wheat or something. A bit of a mess. Thinnish, acrid flavor, a bit of caramel, yeast, bitter greens. Not as bad as my description may make it sound, but I see little worth drinking here, unfortunately.
