CapFlu (3340), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Dec 22, 2005 (750ml bottle) Sampled at TiggMTL’s Montreal Crew YEHa!05 Christmas Party on December 17, 2005. Nose of green pears. Thin beige head with deep orange body. Perfect balance or malt and yeast though a very tart finish.
Beer_2000 (1269), Kristiansand, Norway Sep 28, 2008 750 ml bottle. Brown orange body with a big creamy off-white head. Fruity aroma with yeast, brown sugar, spices and some alcohol. Flavor is harmonic, sweet malty, spicy, fruity, yeasty, brown sugar and alcohol. Well balanced and easy to like. TBone (5116), Pori, Finland Sep 15, 2008 Bottled@Plan B, Copenhagen (BB 03/2005)
Ruby color, small beige head. Raisins and malts in the nose, cleary some notes of old beer too. Plum, fig and caramel with faint hoppyness with light oxidation. Easter-like, maybe a bit sweeter than their regula Brune. The bottle was slightly passed its prime, it was vintage around 2003-2004. sayravai (3183), Helsinki, Finland Sep 12, 2008 (Bottled, BBE 06 03 05) Dark ruby/brown with a small, tanned head. Figs, caramel, and slight vegetably feel, probably due to ageing. Some alcohol hints. Caramely, mildly roasty malts and anisey licorice in the flavor, with lowish bitterness. Medium to full body with soft carbonation. A very nice easter brew, at least when aged a bit. Nik925 (154), California, USA Sep 6, 2008 Mmmmm, Easter. Mild bananaclove. Solid, yet a bit conservative. The aroma is noteworthy for its cleanness, but this one was a bit lost due to its mildness after having much larger beers all night. Mild goodness!
Brewed in Belgium for export to Denmark, ends up in Oakland CA...??? DrBayern (977), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Jul 31, 2008 On draft at Monk’s Cafe on 7/23/2008.
Aroma - Figs and dates, some type of spice that I can’t pin down, maybe anise seed, and some nice herbal notes.
Ruby brown in a tulip glass , spare light beige head, with so-so lace.
Flavor - Very good balance with caramel up front and a spicy bitterness close behind, but not overwhelming the excellent malt character.
Palate - Medium to full body, light carbonation, smooth, and a very soft, dry palate.
Overall - Pleasant, easy drinking, and went down well at the end of a wonderful meal.
