yngwie (3602), Kristiansand, Norway May 1, 2008 Bottle, 75cl corked. It pours an almost clear, golden body with a nice, white head. Banana-fruity nose with some hops and spices, continuing into the flavor which is much the same. A little low on sweetness I think, but with a pleasant bitterness. Effervescent, medium to full mouthfeel. Quite dry. Sure, a pleasant, fruity and nicely spiced tripel. Would like to have this one again. (080314)
rds (115), USA Sep 27, 2008 A true golden unfiltered brew with a fatihful but svelte white head, this trippel packs the punch of balanced complex layered flavors, perfectily aligned. Sweet maltiness, hops, fruit, with a wonderful clean finish. KyotoLefty (195), Kyoto, Japan Sep 15, 2008 Medium to dark golden color, huge white head. Sweet, honey-citrus aroma, big yeast, wheat and barley malts, lots of lemon, hops and spices as well. Very appetizing. Flavor very lemony, good strong alcohol bite, lots of honey. Spicy, sour, sweet, and bitter. Very complex—there’s a lot going on here! Palate: relatively lite, refreshing, very carbonated. A great tripel.
Allen (632), Wölflinswil, Switzerland Sep 13, 2008 Bottled 33cl. It pours a hazy golden beer with a huge creamy off white head. Good retention. The nose is of melon, gooseberries, candy, grapes and coriander accompanied by a lot of orange and cork. Woody. A lot of honey appears when warming up. Melon, tobacco, grapes, gooseberries and cork in the taste. Medium to low bitterness. Beautiful lacework. Some "le parfait" and vitamin tablets sneking in - not all that pleasant. Floral. Full bodied. Rather sweet and lightly peppery. Some alcohol showing up with the swallow. Late bitterness. Hints of hops, pepper, melon, orange peel and tobacco in the finish. Complex. Not my kind of tripel though. Too sweet to my liking, a cork-like characteristic and so on..... Not worth purchasing again. beergod! (41), Houston, Texas, USA Sep 7, 2008 This abbey ale pours a nice medium golden color with a generous head. Aroma is very layered and floral. Taste is very balanced. Just enough toasted bread flavor, fruity, slightly hoppy.and very layered and delicate. Long finish and solid! Great example of a beer that is equal or better structured than a wine ten times it’s price...... Angeloregon (1969), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 5, 2008 Poured a light rich crisp hazy straw body. Spicy phenolic nose. Clove and banana hints with a sharply carbonic mouthfeel. Fruity, bubblegum on the tongue. FInished with more spicy coriander spice. Nice beer.
