Commercial Description:
This beer has a white, smooth and very compact head. Its pale amber colour is very characteristic revealing a distinctive maltiness. It has a rich aroma with a unique combination of aromatic hops, spices and the typical bouquet of fermentation - very fruity. Secondary fermentation in the bottle gives it a unique aroma due to the presence of yeast. St Feuillien Triple has a very strong and exceptionally lingering taste thanks to its density and its long storage period.

330ml bottle (Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam)
Slightly hazy gold, persistent creamy head. Aroma packed with dry and sharp hoppiness but caressed with a another delicious spicy tang, and banana hints, from the yeast. Soft but sharp palate - sharpness both from the pleasant carbonation and from immediately bitter hops. The yeasty taste accompanies the malt to provide notes which are almost liquoricey, and which waft peppery fumes up the nose. Alcohol aids that wafting, but doesn’t impose itself. Powerful, but oh-so-subtle; complex and ever changing, ever developing. At risk of redundancy - great stuff, my kind of tripel, excellent! Well done!

Bottle @ de Zotte. A sweet fruity and spicy tripel, but as all Feuillien brews, too sweet for me. I just don’t dig their beers.

Smells great, and has a light sweet taste with some spice and light bitterness. Yeast is present along with light alcohol considering it’s strength. Good Triple.

75 cl bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. Big GUSH. JN 30/08.

App.: Cloudy orange-golden, large rocky white froth. Aroma: Yeast and dough, lots of citrusy coriander and sugary fruits, candi sugar, tree fruits and light dried fruits, a bit too much alcohol. Palate: Medium body and fairly sparse effervescence. Flav.: Spicey citrus, leafy herbal hops, sweet fruits, light sweetness, some dark dried fruits; sweet with a bit of bitterness, a bit of alcohol and light grainy fruitiness to finish.

A nice example of a style that I still don’t like much.

[1303-20080418] 1pt9.4floz. Light fruity hops and mid-notes of straw in the aroma, with mild yeast and a bit of lemon zest and pips. Hazy, pale brown orange body with a long-lasting creamy white head. Mild citrus yeast flavour has a mild tangy yeast. Light-medium body. Mild but drinkable.

750mL bottle purchased at Corti Brothers in Sacramento. Aroma definitely has some mustiness as well as a bit of anise present. I just get lots of licorice and a fair amount of veggies in the nose. Not sure, doesn’t smell too appealing. Mild-moderately hazy golden-orange body with an off-white head that is medium-sized. Good lacing present. Pretty balanced beer. Has a nice sweet kick early on, but it never totally fades. Lingers in the background behind some dusty, spicy yeast flavors and a nice light citrusy hopped bitterness to finish. Nice mouthfeel. Not overly ethanolic. Balanced and drinkable. Well-crafted. Wish the aroma was more pleasant, though.
