Commercial Description:
St. George Golden Ale is based on an old British recipe, but with an American twist - a slightly sweet, malty flavor with a citrusy finish. It has a thick, creamy head and is golden amber in color.

From notes: Aroma is very present - all hop though. I even put in my notes this was more of an APA than a golden ale, funny. Yeah so its another in a long line of west coast like APA’s that I have been drinking recently. Nice but becoming too ordinary at the moment.

Medium amber, this is too dark to really be called a golden. Sharp, musty, herbal hops. Strong enough to shock my expectations. Bitterness pushes the envelope of balance.

Bottle courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a hazy dark orange with a large mostly lasting foamy white head. Aroma is quite sweet and citrusy along with some hops and toasty malt. Flavour starts sweet and grainy followed by earthy hops and a light bitter finish. It is a touch watery and could use a little more flavour. Medium bodied. A pretty good APA but overall it’s just O.K.

12oz. bottle. Fairly gentle aroma of lemongrass, lightly sweet and toasty malts and floral hops along with some background dusty yeast notes. Light golden-amber color, clear, with a fine, lasting head and appropriate lacing. Flavor is primarily bitter and citric, plenty of lemon and hop spice, accented by the faintly sweet, nutty and honeyish maltiness, finish is drying and lightly peppery with a particular lingering bitterness. Lighty bracing and effervescent mouthfeel, body is medium. Nicely refreshing.

Hazy orange body with a moderate white head. Sweet malt aroma with a light grainy note and muted light citrus zest. Flavour has a moderate bitterness with more of the light grainy character. Sweet mild hints of caramel and very muted citrus. Average palate. Pretty quaffable, thanks HogTownHarry.

From bottle. Pours a nice golden hue with white head. Nose is light sweet malt and light sitrus. Flavor is a bit bland version of the nose. Bitter in the finish.

Pours a caramel-orange into the glass with a diminishing head, tiny retention and light lace. Aromas of tea, orange and earthen hops. Flavor is decently bitter, wth citrus notes and light caramel malt. There is a nice bitter finish that peppers the mouth for a good amount of time. The mouthfeel is honestly a bit thin and hollow, which makes for the worst part of the pull. This seems to be on the right track, though, and I’d have another. Definitely good in the summer dog days.

Bottle, acquired from hogtown harry, thanks man! Lovely golden yellow, small white head. Lots of hops in aroma, which surprised me, as I was expecting a Golden Ale, based on the English name. Nice. Stale tea like hops initially in taste giving away to some citrus and earthy hops. Malt is present as well, maybe some very light caramel malts too. Light and refreshing served cold, might become a little too sweet warm. Nice on my patio on a smoggy Toronto day after watching some world cup 06!
