Deep amber in color with a malt and hop taste. Not as hoppy as some IPA’s i have tasted but it is drinkable and enjoyable. crzybob77 (528), Richmond, Virginia, USA

The bitterness mainly comes out in the finish. This is certainly an enjoyable beer, just nothing extra special. jasonp (1513), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA

Pours amber with an off white head. Aroma is lighly hoppy and malty. Taste is moderately sweet - citrusy, nice hops, good malt backing. Nice bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is very full and round. I enjoyed this.
SECOND SAMPLING- clear amber with a thick off-white head. Aroma of toasted malt and floral hops. Flavor is very well balanced; big caramel and toastiness and then gives way to english hoppiness/grapefruit. Moderately sweet, bitter finish. Mouthfeel is the same as previously mentioned. Great lacing and head retention. This beer is underrated IMO. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 13, 2004 Draft. Pours dark straw with good head and lace. Aroma of hops, fruit, and malt. Tastes hoppy, with some malt, fruit, and dryness at the finish. Nice balance, but slightly dryer than I crave in an IPA. Complex and refreshing. PorterPounder (3148), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 26, 2004 Enjoyed a bottle of this with Argo at RFD in D.C. Dark orange appearance, decent white head, sprucey aroma. Has a chewy flavor, with a slight citrusy bent to it, of course. Also has an intriguing malty undertone missing from some over the top IPAs. Pleasant, thick mouthfeel. Overall a very good IPA. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

Stark malty brew, with a soapy/citrusy bite to it. I really like their Olde Richmond #11 IPA a lot better, but this is a quaffable beer, just as any St George is ...
