Commercial Description:
St. George India Pale Ale is a traditional English style ale with a distinct hop spiciness from imported 100% UK Fuggles hops. Deep copper in color, our IPA has a full malt base and a pronounced hop aroma. It was awarded the GOLD medal in the international category as the best India Pale Ale at the 2000 Beauty of Hops English Ale Awards.

Not a beginners’ IPA...very bitter and hoppy on the finish, chalky, and a little cardboard-tasting on the finish. Quite strong in taste, but the alcohol does not match the hoppy flavors. I think I’d skip this the next time.

Hoppy beer with a strong finish. I enjoyed this. It may have been because of all of the normal junk I had been drinking while I was visiting the area. It was a great change of pace.

Starts out decently, with some of those mild Fuggles hops and some bready characteristics, but the finish is abrupt and brings some off-putting tangy flavors that just don’t sit right. Not bad, I suppose, but it could stand some cleaning up.

Draft. Clear copper orange and yellow colored body. Lightly crisp and bitter up front, a combination of fruity and doughy (sour yogurt) flavors. Tastes like homebrew full of muddy yeast flavors. Ok but not great.

I must admit I had some trouble with this one. Overall I was not that impressed. I noticed a chemical/solvent aroma mixed with a light IPA. Flavor was a bit muted but lightly acetic. A bit weird for me and not that good.

Pours a slightly cloudy orangish red, normal head that disappates at the pace of a lawn dart hitting the ground after being thrown 30 feet in air. (jarts, remember those??? outlawed now I think). Dry citrusy aroma. Taste is slightly smokey, crisp, with the IPA hops in the forefront. The carbonation is at a good level. Has some maltiness, but it is buried. Something is missing that would make it a great IPA. Or it is the smokey aftertaste that is cause for concern?

Bottle. Little cloudy golden colour with a weak head. Malty aroma with a sweetness from the malt, not much hops aroma. Malty flavour with a little hoppy and bitter finish, I prefer more hops in IPA.

Clear amber with a small off-white head. The aroma is very light, some spicey hops and some caramel. The flavor is herbal, floral and sweet with caramel. Medium body with medium carbonation. Decent, but more of an amber than an IPA.
