Aroma if roast malt, chocolate, tobacco, oak, leather - very nice! Soft mouthfeel. Flavour is delicate but complex, with flavours suggested by the aroma (esp. malt and chocolate), and a mildly bittered finish. Solid! tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 20, 2006 Bottle, acquired from Hogtown Harry. Deep dark brown, good sized tiny bubble orange’ish head. Nice roast malt aroma, wood, some baker’s chocolate too. Very nice start. Excellent taste - lots of yummy roast, chocolate, and some nice complimenting hops as well. Medium body, lightly carbonated and very flavourful - a textbook excellent porter, well done St. George. gws57 (1144), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 17, 2006 Had this one bottled in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Dark brown pour, chocolate in the nose, maltiness -- like eating malted milk balls -- in the finish. Sweeter than most porters I’ve tried. Good. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 16, 2006 Bottle (12oz). Shared with GregClow, my bottle. Poured deep ruby-brown with an average fizzy tan head. Aroma - after some underwhelming brews, this smelled like heaven - deep roast malt, aged resiny/dusty hardwood, leather, dark tart fruit, slight alcohol, and bitter chocolate and lactose on warming; I also detected green pungent hops lurking around. The taste was very pleasant, if a little mild - roasty malt, lightly fruity with chocolate and minty hops - decent enough body for a porter, although it started a little watery, astringent and lightly syrupy mouthfeel, only lightly carbonated - very pleasing, easy to drink and nicely balanced - good beer. theacelatrain (262), Washington DC, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 13, 2006 Bottle. Pours near black with oak tint around the edges, quickly dissipating off-white head. Sweet nose of soft, milky chocolate malts. Sweet, simple chocolate malts – like Whoppers candy; mildly watery. Pleasant, dry, chocoff finish. Well-rounded but watery/weak. cbkschubert (2015), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 26, 2006 Pours a deep brown hue with a tan head. aromas of coffee, chocolate and a nice roasty quality. Mouthfeel is medium bodied but a little on the lighter side. Flavors of the same as the aroma without a sour finish as many porter/stouts of the same style tend to carry. Even though a year old, this was a pleasant suprise. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
