Commercial Description:
St. George Porter weaves a complex tapestry of flavors in a black, ruby colored ale. A rich malt base, typical of St. George Ales, results in caramel and chocolate tones, classically balanced with English bittering and aromatic hops.

(12 oz bottle, obtained in trade with jasonp, thanks Jason!) Sweet and malty nose doesn’t hint of the roasty flavor that is to come; The beer starts out quite malty and moderately sweet, but the long-lasting finish is much more roasty and bitter; Medium bodied, probably near average for a porter, definitely not a thick, chewy porter; Black in color except at the very edges where it’s a ruddy brown; The tan head is somewhat small on the pour, but is able to maintain a full, thin layer, though little lace is left on the glass; Competent, well-made porter that may not set the world on fire, but is perfectly enjoyable

Appearance: dark brown color, with reddish edges, and a thick, solid, brownish head that lasts and lasts. Aroma: rich and chocolatey, a little coffeeish, beautiful, dark, roasty, perfect. Taste: smooth, but slightly bittersweet on the tongue. Ably fits the perfect flavor profile for a porter, bitter, rich , tasty, full-bodied, marvelous mouthfeel, never-ending finish, this is truly a porter done right!

Bottle pours almost black, dark plum hues on the edges, small tannish foamy head, with light lacing.   Dark chocolate, unsweetened and dry, on the nose.   Slightly sweet up front, heavilly roasted malts, chocolate malts, finishes dry, with a slightly sweet fruity flavor.   Good body, medium mouthfeel.   A bit better than your average Porter.   Definitely unique!

Pours a very dark ruby brown with a tan head. Aroma is of bittersweet chocolate. Taste is chocolatey with roasted malt, caramel, hops and coffee with a hint of dark fruit and tobacco. Taste is moderately sweet with a bitter and slightly burnt aftertaste. Mouthfeel is full, round and creamy. Very nice porter, recommended.

Craamy, lasting light beige head w/ a dee brown body. Coffee & chocolate malt w/ some toasted malt & low fruitiness. Some black patent as it warms(acric burnt coffee)..also has milky, lactic aroma & hints of caramel. Well balanced to lightly bitter. Slight burnt grain(black malt), espresso coffee flavors. Moderate fruitiness, hop flavor in the finish & aftertaste which is also lightly bittersweet & roasty. Dry m/f w/ lower carbonation & lighter medium body. Pleasantly bitter overall. All flavors balance well with each other...good session beer!!!!
