Commercial Description:
St. George Porter weaves a complex tapestry of flavors in a black, ruby colored ale. A rich malt base, typical of St. George Ales, results in caramel and chocolate tones, classically balanced with English bittering and aromatic hops.

Good smell. Chocolate roast flavor. Just a little tart for my Porter liking. This one tasted better as it went from a slight chill to room temp.

bottle from...you guessed it...ucusty. pours very dark brown with a thin tan head that disappears quickly back into the glass. aromas of wood, mild coffee and dark roasted malts. flavor is also woody with a little bit of coffee and a strange mild herbal bitterness that reminds me of earwax. (not burnt, not hops but something????)thin bodied with high carbonation. no palate development and it doesn’t improve when warm...

Poured very dark with not too much head and fades fast. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and some coffee. Taste a little bitter back but may be the espresso taste not the hops. Nice body and smooth, easy to drink.

Rich chocolate flavor, some bitterness.. not to bad though. Overall decent, would most likely buy this one again.

Fairly strong aroma of chocolate malts suggests real promise, but the body on this one - though fine looking, with mild lacing - is too thin to sustain the style. A bit astringent too, taking away from the smoothness. Solid and drinkable, but nothing I’d necessarily seek again.

well hopped rich chocolate aroma, big body, rich malt flavor, nice bitterness, too much per style, but still nice, touch of roasted in the finish,

black with ruby edges, scant tan head, rich dry chocolate malt aroma with a hint of sweet licorice, thin body, dry chalky chocolate malt flavor, just too dry yet rich

Thanks MikeTD. Dark brown with thin beige head. Aromai s caramel and roasted malts. Flavor is nutty, caramel, and some roasted malts with a touch of chocolate. Nice roasted character and nutty finish with toffee and more caramel.
