Commercial Description:
St. George Porter weaves a complex tapestry of flavors in a black, ruby colored ale. A rich malt base, typical of St. George Ales, results in caramel and chocolate tones, classically balanced with English bittering and aromatic hops.

Bottle. Pours dark amber, almost black, with small tan head. The aroma is strong molasses, hints of bitter chocolate, and a faint smoky note. The flavor is ash, bitter chocolate, and cold coffee. Earthy finish, sparkly aftertaste. It’s kind of on the thin side, but is still pretty good.

Pours with a four finger light tan head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Hints of deep mahogany color. Light carbonation and heavy bodied. Chocolate/coffee nose. Starts sweet, a chocolate/roasted coffee flavor, some bitterness at finish. 12oz bottle gift from Vintage Cellars Blacksburg, VA

[12oz Bottle - Thanks The Beer God] A deep brown color with a decent head. A nice roasty aroma with a deep malt presence. This had nutty and chocolate flavor and was very easy to drink. Good stuff .

Draft - A very enjoyable nose with chocolate and roasted malt presence. Served at the perfect temp, nice tan head. Flavors relally drawn out are the nut, chocolate and cream. Well done.

12 oz bottle, via kmweaver. Pours a very dark brown colored body under a moderate fizzy brown head that faded to a thin film. Aroma is very chocolaty with some roast and a lighter vinous note. Some chalky dryness and some yeast as well. Flavor is a balancing act between the roast and chocolate with the roast slightly winning. A touch of alcohol and yeast on the lightly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. Texture is fairly watery. Overall, a fairly decent Porter. A little heavy on the roastiness for the style, but still very drinkable.

Bottle. Pours black as all hell with a smallish tan head. Seriously, no light gets through this. Heavy dark chocolate / baking chocolate aroma, with a bit of spent coffee grounds. Flavor is straight up chocolate coffee. Not a mocha or anything like that: straight up chocolate flavored coffee. Bit of hazelnut in there as well. Finishes with that sorta metallic hazelnut and coffee. Not super thick considering the rich flavor. This is very good. That’s all I really need to say. Good porter. Drink one. Like right now.

Bottle, July 2006. Deep red colour. Light roasty aroma. Full malt flavour. Smooth and creamy with powdery cocoa in evidence. Quite dry with a fairly light body. Very pleasant, although not the most muscular of porters, which denies it a higher rating for me (at least in this stout-like porter style). Still pretty good, without any obvious or major shortcomings.

Bottle from the_beer_god. Pours brown with a thin tan head. Smells of chocolate, nuts, sweet malt. Tastes of light chocolate, some earthy hops and breaddy with a light nutty finish.
