Commercial Description:
St. George Spring Lager is a classical example of what many consider to be the original lager beer. Amber-colored and medium bodied with a rich, roasted malt character this beer has a smooth, slightly sweet malt flavor with traditional German hops providing a noble, perfectly-balanced hop bitterness. A slightly fruity, dry finish tops off this style as does a thick, creamy white head.

12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy copper body with a small patchy off-white head. The nose has that cooked veggie undertone I have found in a few other of their beers. Some toasty malt otherwise. Same with the flavor too, I want something a lot cleaner from a Lager. No vienna malt character. Some snappy hops almost redeem the finish, but then they fade away leaving me with those cooked veggies. Medium bodied with a little clinginess and a flabby feel on the back end. Moderate fizzy carbonation. Not so good. What’s with the cooked veggies in their beers?

Pours copper with a thin off white head. Smells of toasted malt, some spicy hop notes, peppery. Tastes nutty with some toasted malt notes and a spicy bitterness on the finish.

Bottle from Dragon Pack. Copper pour with deep gold edges and nose of hops, mild spice, nuts, malt. Tastes malty, nutty, with backup hops, honey, and very smooth. This is a solid lager from these guys, who I love.

12 ounce bottle from a dragon pack sampler. Pours an orange amber with a medium head. Average head retention and lacing. Aroma is malty with fruity notes, caramel and a buttery note. Taste is fairly strong roasted malts with some light buttery and hop notes. Medium bodied.

Bottle from dragon pack. Pours a clear coppery orange with fair light-tan head. Malty and slightly nutty aroma. A pretty good vienna lager, but I still prefer modelo.

Off taps at Capital Ale house. Clear copper color with tiny head. Aroma may be vienna style malts but was hard to get in a smoky bar with odors of pickles and perfume wafting by. Fairly hoppy flavor with some yeast fruityness and moderate malt backbone. Reasonably light mouthfeel with moderate arbonation. Good light drinking beer that might be a good introduction to craft brewed beers.

Bottle. Poured with quite a roar of carbonation that quickly turned into a meow. The aroma is quite biscuity, like freshly baked dark bread. Drinks with a full caramel coke, rich and malty, and a kiss of hop at the finish. (#3432, 4/23/2008)
