[Bottled, thanks chris_o!] Very black, creamy head. Chocolatey head. Sweet with loads of caramel, chocolate and licorice. Full bodied with rather soft mouthfeel and notes of tobacco. Salty bitter finish.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with The_Beer_God (thanks!). Poured a dark black color with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of roast, coffee, light chocolate, vanilla and some dark fruits. Tastes of roast, vanilla, coffee and some chocolate. Has a nice espresso bitter finish.

Poured an opaque black color with a small, tan head that left spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of dried fruits, smoke, roasted malts, and sweet chocolate. Vanilla beans dominated the taste, with some roast and smoke in the background, light chocolate, and no alcohol in the taste.

RBSG 2006; Grand Tasting. Dark brown/black with ruby edges and a light beige head. Roastiness and grain in the nose, not very prominent. The flavor on the other hand, is very bold and flavorful; caramel, chocolate, dark fruits, pleasant sweetness along with ample bitter, piney hops. Ends with a somewhat burnt taste. Full, round and creamy with moderate carbonation. Very good.

RBSG ’06 Dark beer with red glints around the edges. Thin tan head. Some molasses and dark grain sweetness in the nose. Oily mouthfeel, with tastes of burnt caramel, molasses and a coffee bitterness in the finish. Nice thick stout.

12oz bottle thanks to someone at RBSG, I think kp. This is really an excellent beer. I thought it would be a robust stout, not high gravity, but really like the thickness, light smoke and chewiness of the thing. I was calling it a light imperial stout. Resiny, syrupy nose full of dark fruit and wood char, plums, dark roast coffee, and other dark fruits. Good stuff. Flavor-wise, it’s also impressive: slick, syrupy, resiny wood and plum flavors, red grapes as well, light, liquidy smoke as well, and of course some wood char, campfire smoke. Good stuff, I’m glad I got to try a bottle.
