Heavy roast and chocolate flavors permeate the air. Coffee and molasses as well. The flavor is a smooth blend of chocolate and roast. Light amount of coffee. Very creamy, yet the high ABV is detectable. Thanks to The_Epeist for this trade item - a winter stout enjoyed in June! pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 14, 2008 Thanks for sharing Yaniv! Dark dark brown to black with a thin tan film of a head. Round soft lightly smoky nose. Light chocolate roast. Full, but dry. Creamy lower carbonation with decent viscosity. Lightly sweet chocolate. Smoke, alcohol and a bit of fruity roast. Lingering roast in the aftertaste. I don’t know if this is big enough to be imperial, but it’s not a bad beer at all. Butters (1651), Virginia, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 23, 2008 Appearance: Pours an onyx blacky body with a small, oily-looking, tan head that quickly dissipates.
Smell: A nose full of blackened grains and hand-crushed Whoppers with a hint of fruit and premium quality cola.
Taste: Tons of dark, roasty malts with tastes of chocolate syrup, chicory, and black cherry soda. Dessertworthy, sugary sweetness. A thin measure of earthy bitterness. Puff of Cavendish pipe tobacco. More and more dark maltiness on the dry chocolate finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Mild carbonation. Overall smooth mouthfeel.
Drinkability: A heavenly RIS from St. George that was a bit unexpected (in that I haven’t tried any St. George beers prior to this one). unclemattie (2432), Georgia, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 15, 2008 Thanks Todd. This one was sure a surprise. The beer pours to a black body with a thin creamy tan head. The aroma is rich chocolate, yeast, hops, and very dark fruit components. Reminds me of Bells Batch 7000 in the aroma. The flavor is rich, creamy black chocolate malt, yeasts, light licorice, and is reminiscent of Bells Batch 7000. Not as thick or aromatic or as chewy, but for only 7%, it works really darn well.
