| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 7, 2007 A very black beer that drinks very full for its gravity. The nose is full of melted fudge and coffee. A very roasty malt is predominate on the palate which makes this sweetish brew dry out on the finish. This a great beer to have during the cold months to ward off the chill. Trooper11 (467), Suffolk, Virginia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 13, 2007 Very dark brown brew with a large foamy light brown head. Very sweet malty chocolate aroma with notes of black currant. Wow, smooth, malty bitterness, god you can drink this all day long. Coffee and chocolate aftertaste. This is amazing stuff. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 12, 2007 Updated: Mar 1, 2009Got this from a trade with Immy. Thank you sir, I am not worthy of your benevolence! I loved this beer. I wanted to marry it, but my wife told me that would be illegal. The pour was an ultra-dark brown with only the tiniest bits of ruby slipping through. Head was one finger tall and didn’t hang around long. A little bit of lacing, nothing exceptional. The first thing I smelled when I took a deep whiff was Cap’n Crunch Crunch Berry Cereal. Where in the hell I got that I have no idea, but that’s what I got. As it opened up I got cherry, possibly some mild berry like a strawberry or a blueberry, chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. The flavor was chocolate, cherries, coffee, smoke, roasted malt and a bit of alcohol that hung around in the background like a drunk coworker giving bunny ears in every picture at the company Christmas party. The smoke and roasty flavor remained to the last drink. Too often it seems these types of stouts start out strong and peter out into a wash of sugary sweetness and tend to lose the character you get up front. Not this one. Good to the last drop. Thanks again Immy! JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 11, 2007 Probably THE darkest beer I’ve ever seen. Head is a toasted brown. Aroma is a little weird, oily, I get french fries for some reason. Taste is sweet, strong and of chocolate and coffee. Very tasty aftertaste. Not incredibly heavy or complex, just solid drinking stuff here. Able to drink this one fast, not too overwhelming. Scubatrip (388), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 1, 2007 On tap, pours plack with a nice brown head. Aroma and taste are of usual winter-brew spices, along with some chocolate and coffee flavors rounding out the taste. Smooth on the palate. All in all a pretty good beer, despite my uninspired description. mvittone (2), USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 29, 2007 Honestly, the stoutest thing I’ve ever seen or heard about. Could’t see a bright flashlight through this thing. Flavor? All of it is in there. I liked it, but I dont think I’ll drink any more of it. You know what I mean?
