rpattinson (82), Amsterdam, Netherlands Feb 6, 2006 Tobacco, resin, vanilla, lemon, flowers and malt aroma; very bitter/sweetish taste with vanilla, malt, butter, mint and hop aromas; very long bitter finish with butter, tobacco and pepper aromas.
A great beer. Packed full of complex hop aromas and a subtle touch of malt. I actually marked it down a little because there’s more malt than there should be, strictly speaking, for the style. Very much a South German beer. harrisoni (5109), Ashford, Kent, England Sep 30, 2007 500ml bottle at St Albans BF 2007. Clear gold, lovely and clean, clean crisp, lemon, wow, the finish is so hoppy and clean. This is the best pilsner I’ve even had. I liked it so much I bought another bottle and drank it on the train on the way home. Quinten (709), zaandam, Netherlands Jan 20, 2007 Pale golden color, foamy head,....wow perfect smell!! nice grassy hoppiness, fully grainy,. next one in my top list! shrubber85 (2462), Wallhalben, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany Nov 4, 2004 Bottle. Nice malt aroma with hint of hops. Yellow color with quick collapsing head. Hops flavor up front with moderate malt taste and subtle cranberry flavor finish. A bit more bitter than most German pilseners but refreshing, unique and enjoyable. chris_o (4405), London, Greater London, England Feb 16, 2008 Bottle at St Albans Beer Festival, September 2007. Very bright gold colour with a lively condition. Lots of sharp, quenching hops. A touch of toasted malt but it underpins the hoppy character rather than clashing with, or dominating. Nice crisp, dry mouthfeel. Wonderfully refreshing. This truly is a classic German pilsner. I’d like to try this one on tap.
