"Ungespundet - hefetrüb". Deep golden to amber colour, large and creamy lingering head. Lovely aroma of hops, caramel and bakery. Moderate carbonation, soft mouthfeel. Mellow flavour with a delicate balance between malts and hops, notes of rye bread, hints of butterscotch. I’d like a tad more bittering hops for the aftertaste, though. Definitely a recommendable beer. pubbe (493), Højbjerg, Denmark

Aroma with malt, hops, yeast and a litle note of cask wood. Flavor a hormonious blend of the afore mentioned elements, but seems to lack concentration - being a little watery. Average finish. Well balanced beer. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA

Pours a orange/deep gold color and is a bit hazy. Moderate amount of carbonation with an off-white head. Aroma and flavor are much like a typical German lager, but there is a hint of caramel, spiced honey, and a touch of lemon in the finish. Overall bitterness is mild and well balanced with the rest of the beer. Average body and pretty smooth on the palate.
This was my first Keller beer. I wasn’t sure what to think a first, but after having one, I am quite intrigued by the style. I hope to try more Zwickel/Keller/Landbier style beers in the future...

Felt like there were honourable things going on with this beer, but sadly I was not really able to appreciate them. Combination of wateriness and bitterness produced little joy. Rather unusually had it at a Thai restaurant which may have affected my judgement here. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 6, 2006 From a 500 ml. euro brown bottle with no freshness date on the bottle, but the box had a date from August 2006.
Poured an unfiltered golden hued unfiltered apple cider brown with a foamy, bubbly topped, creamy off-white head that settled into a thin lacing.
Aromas of toasted malts with a honey nuttiness and floral hops.
Moderate carbonation and a crisp, velvety, creamy smooth medium-light bodied mouthfeel, excellent.
Smooth, delicious taste, toasted honey nutty malts with touches of sweet caramel, the honey flavor has a tartness to it, a softly spicy, flowery herbal hoppiness, the soft bitterness cuts underneath the sweetness of the malts, and a dryish honey, caramelized malty and herbal finish, easy, smooth drinkability, quite quaffable.
This is an unpasteurized German lager, so if you don’t know or can find it’s freshness date, I wouldn’t buy it. If you get stuck with a year old or more bottle, the taste is going to be flat and dull. Best within six months of bottling, hopefully three to four at the oldest.
