Commercial Description:
We brew the strongly hopped Keller Bier traditionally according to an age-old recipe and then let it mature unbunged in deep vaults. Naturally cloudy; with bottom-fermenting yeast rich in vitamins, this very drinkable beer is frequently enjoyed out of a stein.

Out of all my ratings, kellerbier’s seem to be a stranger to me. I just don’t have the opportunity to try them like other more prevelent styles, so it’s hard to tell if I got a good one or not. This one really didn’t do much for me.

The beer pours out a dark copper color, hazy with a piss-foam-like head that melted quickly. Aroma is medicinal, wet moldy leaves and grainy. Flavor has some herbal hoppiness, like basil meets cut grass. Light sweet malts and a slightly dirty finish.

Draught Small, white head over amber beer with mossy shine. Very malty, chestnuts, ripe grain, grainloft. Malty flavour, some caramel; dry, more hoppy finish, bit veggie. Very outspoken gristslickness; light to medium bodied. Palate is better than the main taste. Still, it just doesn’t live up to what the nose promises.

500 ml bottle. Clear, amber body with a big tan head. Aroma is grain, caramel and floral hops. Flavor is mild malty, caramel and bitter hoppy. Nice, easy drinkable, flavorful with a pleasant dry bitter finish.

(Bottle at Timo A’s tasting, thanks) Amber and lightly hazy. Medium sized and quickly disappearing white head. Fresh malts, fruitiness and some grass in aroma. Medium bodied palate with medium carbonation, Malts, fresh malts, some saltiness, bitterness and grass in taste. Lot of malts in aftertaste.

Draught@Eulenspiegel. Ceramic mug. Mediumsized white head. Aroma is rather vegetably hoppy as well as bready malty. Flavour is hops, grass and some sweet malts. Balanced, but the vegetably notes makes it a bit unpleasant.

Draft, served in ceramic krug. Besides at the brewery the best pour seems to be at that little cafe near the Obere Bruke in Bamberg. Ratings from other places were a few points lower. Appears to be a dark amber gold. The gigantic puff ball lasting head is lovely. Aroma bursts with gorgeous grain and the body teems with herbal hops. Smooth. Dry yet juicy and delicious. Absolutely gorgeous.

Picked up 4 from "Beers of the World" in Rochester, NY. Pours a deep amber with a hint of cloudiness. Head was almost non-existent. Malty flavour with some caramel and yeast beneath it. I’m generally a big fan of English bitters so I was surprised how much I enjoyed this beer.

Pours an amber orange with a thin white head. Aroma is biscuit and malt, maybe just a hint of roasted malt. Flavor is fairly malty with a hint of caramel. There’s a weird mouthfeel that almost dries your mouth out.
