Commercial Description:
We brew the strongly hopped Keller Bier traditionally according to an age-old recipe and then let it mature unbunged in deep vaults. Naturally cloudy; with bottom-fermenting yeast rich in vitamins, this very drinkable beer is frequently enjoyed out of a stein.

(bottle) Dark hazy amber colour with medium frothy, lightly tanned head. Floral hoppy aromas with a light toasted and citric touch. It starts a little caramellish & malty with a very dry hoppy and longlasting aftertaste. A complex, well balanced Kellerbier. I have to taste the Löwenbräu Buttenheim Keller in the neighbourhood of St. Georgen again as soon as possible.

Bottle. True to form, very little pffft upon opening, with a restrained accompanying head. Definitely on the cloudy side, with a stray suspended fleck here and there. Orange, like liquid dried apricot. The aroma on this is hard to pick up, even after letting it warm for a while... A little butter, I guess, maybe some straw. Several things about this remind me about some (bottled) British ales - very mild hops, and grassy. This is a nice quaffer. There is a hint of rubber or plastic, but it doesn’t detract much, and the malts round things out nicely. The low carbonation is just right. The finish is slightly dry with a sour metallic tang.

Aug 06 Draught @ Kachelofen, Bemberg. Light malty caramel and reasonably full bitterness. Let down a little by the serving method leaving the beer a little gassy. 3.0
Feb 05 Cask conditioned@JDW Soton. Subdued hoppy aroma. Smooth malt with light carbonation and a tangy bitter finish. 3.3

Bottled. A dark amber coloured lager which has a nice shaving foam head on first pouring. The aroma has bread notes, yeast notes and some hops. The taste is nicely sweet and malty but there is also a really good hop presence. This is a beer style I really am starting to enjoy. It is so well balanced but also so pure and drinkable.

A copper colored beer with a moderate head. The aroma is citrusy and yeasty with a saaz hop grassiness to it. The flavor is quite sour with a good deal of funk and lemons. Its a bit hoppy and funky. The sourness is not always pleasent. It was ok but not something I plan to return to.
