A scant aroma of hop with fruit and floral notes. No carbonation. Bittered like an ESB. Flavors of grass, caramel, a bit of applesauce, and biscuit. Bitterness arrives in 3 distinct waves at each sip. The bitterness is dry and it blends nicely with the sweeter caramel malt. pforei (338), USA

Bready carmel malt with some grain and earthy, herbal, lemony hops. Well balanced and easily consumed. Mildly bitter and lemon/herbal finish. Thin bodied. alexanderj (2280), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 22, 2008 Bottle; poured a dark orange with a smallish off white head. Aroma was earthy and nutty; some toasted malt, caramel and grass. Soft on the palate; not alot of carbonation. Decently bitter finish. Could have had more flavor; a little dull. However, there was some decent caramel and nutty maltiness. Good for the style. wheresthepath (554), Buckinghamshire, England

Was pleasantly surprised. It was sweet, oaky, woody, malty, uncarbonated, and rather lovely. Despite being made using a lagering process, this is far more like a sweet ale than a lager. renffisch (520), london, Greater London, England

Still sweet and nutty in flavour with a nicely rounded bitter hop finish. Refreshing, light and well hidden percentage. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 6, 2008 This was my first experience with this style, so I was not really sure what to expect. I think this is vastly underrated/underappreciated. This has a great mouthfeel, exceptionally dry, but has a bit of a hazy butterscotch flavor, with a strong biscuity maltiness. Very soft, and clean with a bit of toasted maltiness. This is way drinkable. wyzzywyz22 (799), Wirral, Merseyside, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 17, 2008 Cask, Hoylake Lights. My first ’cellar ’ beer. Dark amber colour with a lingering medium white head. Quite a bit of lacing. Malty, hazelnut aroma, some hops too. Nice mouthfeel, creamyish body with a smooth dry hoppy taste. This has got me interested in seeking out something similar within the genre. Fin (3466), Merton, Oxfordshire, England

Tastes very soft in the mouth, some light toasted flavours to this, some grain and sweet maltiness, a lovely beer and yet another corker at a JDW.
