It pours a deep ruby brown beer with a huge (!) mountainous, nicely remaining light brown head. The aroma is dominated by coconut, ginger and blueberry. Sweet malty taste where coconut is the most prominent component. The alcohol is nicely hidden. Some blueberry, bubblegum and ginger sneaking in. Smooth. Extremely fruity. Strong carbonation. Low bitterness. Residual sugars in the finish which is reminiscent of plum, coconut, tobacco, caramel and blueberry. Surprisingly good. I might buy this beer again. Possibly one of the best Huyghe beers. Rather typical for this brewery; without any disturbing quality. Plenty of character.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 7, 2009 Bottle. 33cl. Pours translucent ruby mahogany, with decent off-white head. Aroma of fruity malt, with similar of the palate, with berries too, with the alcohol well blended. A decent dubbel. AR (437), Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Tasted as Duinen Dubbel. Aroma was an alcoholic caramel. The taste was similar. Also a bit of brandy flavor that didn’t really mix the greatest with the malt. sound67 (215), Offenbach, Germany
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 22, 2009 33cl bottle, as pictured. Pouring this into the glass wasn’t a pleasant experience: There was SO much foam it was impossible to control, and the glass overflew immediately. Even minutes later, when pouring the rest, again the same thing happened. What is this????
Pours a huge (see above), frothy beige head with good retention, but almost no lacing.
Aroma of sweet berries, malt and alcohol.
Mouth feel is surprisingly earthy - due to almost aggressive carbonation. Texture is rather thin and watery for a dubbel.
Taste is of dark berries, initially sweet - but soon countered by a strong, malty bitterness that persists to the finish, which then again is mildly sweet. No lingering after taste. Some herbal spices there.
I must say that the aggressive carbonation, as well as the troubles pouring this brew even into a pint(!) glass, are ruining this dubbel for me. The taste is nicely bitter-ish and malty, but the carbonation all but numbs the receptors on the tongue.

Hints of apple skins, raisins, toffee, ash, caramel and light moth y berries. Ash en apple light tin note. Oxidation for sure but still fine overall.
