For lambic very shy in sour notes. Reminds me of very sweet sparkling wine. It seems that maker tried to make introductory, light gentle lambic but in the final result no one will be happy. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Apr 24, 2005 Amber in colour, subtle fruity aroma with a hint of skunkiness. Mild fruity taste, sweet finish. Not as good as Mort Subite gueuze which I also tried. GregClow (2495), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 21, 2005 Golden copper colour with a small head. Aroma of a much less complex Orval - a bit of band-aid and herbal notes, but quite one-dimensional. Thin body, and as DerWeg commented below, the flavour is oddly hollow (I really can’t think of a better word for it, so I stole one!). It has a promising hint of tartness in the beginning, but it’s completely dead in the middle, and finishes like a sweet cider. It’s sad that the LCBO would choose this as one of the two gueuzes that they’re offering Ontarians. Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 19, 2005 Looks alright. Deep gold with a big rocky off white head. All down hill from here. Aroma is mildly skunked. Yeasty and stale wonder bread. Flavour and texture is really boring. Very little acid. Then sweetness shows up in the crummy finish. DerWeg (760), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 16, 2005 Cork bottle, new, chilled in goblet. Hint Orval-esque herbal bouquet amid tinges of musty oak. Funny ’hollow’ body and feel and taste to this gueuze, with an odd flavored sweetness. Crisp nose. Dusty oakish flavors I like in a gueuze but overall dilute product, this beer lacks good bones, really. For a generic Gueuze i really prefer Belle Vue. tupalev (2611), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 13, 2005 Bottle, LCBO Spring Release 05. Nice copper colour - very thin looking. Lots and lots of bubbles. Nice long lasting white head. Wine like sour aroma that was pretty light. Light to medium bodied mouthfeel. Interesting taste - some of the expected sourness, but really quite mild. Some hints of smoke and artificial citrus and sweetness. There was a bit of a "bottle" taste as well (Oct 05 Best Before). I enjoyed it somewhat and can see how it would be quite accessible for those who have not had this style before. dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 10, 2005 Apple cider taste with a barny and leathery texture. Not as strong a gueuze as it could be, but has enough sour and tartness to make it appealing. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
