jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Jul 2, 2008 Nice clean crisp golden amber coloured body with a thinnish white head. Aroma of hay, sour grapes, wheat, honeysuckle, vinegar and a tiny bit of malt. Light-bodied; Nice sour flavour up front with a good yeastie finish coupled with the vinegar and slightly sweet flavours you’d expect. Aftertaste shows some puckering, along with musty and grassy flavours throughout. Overall, a good gueuze - sweet and sour at the same time with a modestly meaty body. I sampled this 37.5 cL ’split’ bottle purchased from Bier Tempel in Bruxelles, Belgium on 02-January-2008 sampled on my birthday 30-June-2008. Imperial-John (154), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Jun 21, 2008 Amber with foamy white head that thins quickly. Light fruit aroma like cider. Very refreshing bubbly light fruity taste. Not too sweet or dry. Pleasantly surprised and looking forward to other gueuzes if this one is rated so low. Marsiblursi (1631), Göteborg, Sweden Jun 18, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a grayish amber colour. The aroma is sourish, tart and citric with notes of wood, mold, basement, chemicals, tart unripe tropical fruits, toasty malt and hints of stable. The flavour is medium sweet and light to medium tart and acid. Some wood, mold and vinegar. Fruity undertones of apples and light citrus. Soft carbonation. Medium dry finish. Light to medium bodied. thewolf (5635), Kolding, Denmark Jun 17, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Belgisk Bryg, Cph.
Pours a beautiful clear orange with a small, creamy, off-white head. Aroma has lots of citric tartness, good apple notes and a feel of Belgian sugars. Light feel and highly carbonated. Flavour is extremely mild, lightly citric tart. It isn’t sweet as fx chapeau, but just non-existent. Izio (33), Germany Jun 13, 2008 Very strong Cherry/Cassis/Wine flavor. Medium, amber body. Fully diminishing Head. Soft carbonation. Furseth (1328), Kungälv, Sweden Jun 3, 2008 Bottle at 3-små Rum , Göteborg Sweeden: Hazy yellow colour, with almost no head. A bit too sweet. mullet2007 (198), St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada May 30, 2008 My first lambic, thanks to robinvboyer for this one! Pours a really nice deep red to coppery color with a one finger off white head. Aroma is pretty smoky, with some dark fruit notes, like dates maybe. A little bit of light fruits too, like mandarin oranges. I finally understand what the barnyard smell is, not really a bad thing, like I had sort of expected. Taste is pretty much like the smell. Very sweet and lightly fruity at first, then slowly getting drier and smokier as it finishes. A little bit of very mild spices, and some more dark fruits in the finish. Carbonation is decent, and mouthfeel is reasonably creamy. Very interesting beer.
