Sep 29, 2005 Aroma: mildly fruity with an earthen overtone. Notceable spiritousness. Appearance: crystal clear, ruby red and brown. Small tan head with parchy lacing. Flaovur: hints of vanilla, coffee and malt. Fairly one dimiensional with no hop presence. Palate: thin and bubbly finsihes spiritous.

Sep 8, 2005 Retired or not, I have this sitting in front of me right now. This expereince is enhanced by the fact that I found this in a shop in Santiago, not the home of beers by any stretch of the imagination. What a delight. Grat copper hue with a firm creamy head. A melange of dried fruit and a touch of aniseed give this a great nose. The flavour is as succulent with a pleasant dryness adding to the complex mix of fruit. This is everything a good Belgian needs to be. Boy, do I love those words Cervezas Belgas. And only 2,000 pesos!

Sep 3, 2005 Dark dried fruit/licorice/roasted malt/toffee/and currant. Nicely hopped as well. Very respectable drink. I’m making this my new session beer! Oh shit, it’s retired!

Aug 30, 2005 17 June 2005 - (Brasserie Lefeb) - Luscious fruit, stone fruit malt and complex hop aroma. Clear dark brown colour with good lacing. Sweet and some hop complexity. Hop and fruit finish, medium mouthfeel.

Aug 28, 2005 bottle. Joe’s. opaque burgundy body with red tinges on the side. small off-white, short lasting head. sweet alcohol aroma with light chocolate and interesting fruit notes like lemon citrus. malty body with some sharp yeasty notes and light caramel and chocolate cake. At some parts it seemed a little bit thin. warm alcohol in the finish. pretty good.

Aug 18, 2005 Bottle 500ml. Hazy dark brown with some floaty bits. Slim, creamy, off-white head. Aroma is sweet caramel and stewed fruit. Nice flavour, burnt caramel, fruit, raisins, coffee and some alcohol. Medium body, moderate carbonation. I like it.

Jul 27, 2005 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry at Smokeless Joe. Pours a hazy dark brown with an average size diminishing light-brown head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, apple and spices. Flavour was a bit on the mild side but still tasty: chocolate, sweet malt, fruit, alcohol and a touch of roasted coffee. Palate was moderately acidic. I enjoyed this, it’s a shame it’s retired.

Jul 26, 2005 Updated: Feb 23, 2006Bottle (330ml) shared with blankboy at Smokeless Joe. Poured a hazy, glowing brownish ruby, with a small white head, spare lacing. Aroma very light, but I caught sweet malt, sour wine, licorice, cloves and some coriander. Taste also fairly thin, astringent, slightly hop-bitter, mildly malty, strong hazelnut with warming. Thin and astringent mouthfeel, finishes very minerally, nuttier and slightly bitter. Decent, but needs a bit more body.
