Commercial Description:
In the small village of Meer, north of the city of Antwerp, there used to be an abbey which was famous for its beer named St. Paul. During the French Revolution, the abbey was destroyed and so it was said-one father named Paul, rescued the secret recipes to brew the abbey beer and trust them onto the local Sterkens family, at that time a renowned brewer family. The Sterkens family had been brewing beer since 1654, and their St. Paul abbey beer is still brewed today, respectfully according to the centuries old tradition.

Clear dark red brown color, short off-white head. Aroma is malty, bit fruity, sweet alcoholic. Sweet taste, quite alcoholic, especially for a 6.9% beer. Sticky palate. Ok brew, but far from impressive.

Indeed a nice double. Nothing special though. Aroma is malty-sweetish, fruity, some yeast and a hint of honey and alcohol. Clear, dark red/brown coloured with a lasting thin head. Taste is sweet, smooth malty with an alcoholic dosis, fruity. Fresh, thin.

A nice double. Brown and with a fine, big chunky head. Some bread in the aroma and flavor. Too thin.

A dark nut brown color. It has quite a longlasting head. It has a sweet finish - like caramel

A dark brown color with magenta hues. A large foamy beige head. A malty nose with pepper and yeast. A bit thin in the body, alcohol well masked. A bit of a syrupy finish but sour bite somewhat balances it.

Bottled: Ruby red coloured. Yeastremnants swimming around in the glass when pouring. Beige long lasting dense head. Yeast, fruit and a heavy alcahol note in the aroma. Flavour has notes of plums and prunes and the alcahol is not too well hidden. Some notes of cocoa/chocolate. Is a little vague in the end. Easy drinkable and easy forgettable beer.

Red brown color with a tan head. 2-3 mm sediments at the bottom after some time but else clear. Fruity aroma (citrus, rasins) and choclate. Flavor is very smooth, almost acidic flat with a vinous and roasty finish. Lingers on a long time.
