Commercial Description:
In the small village of Meer, north of the city of Antwerp, there used to be an abbey which was famous for its beer named St. Paul. During the French Revolution, the abbey was destroyed and so it was said-one father named Paul, rescued the secret recipes to brew the abbey beer and trust them onto the local Sterkens family, at that time a renowned brewer family. The Sterkens family had been brewing beer since 1654, and their St. Paul abbey beer is still brewed today, respectfully according to the centuries old tradition.

Beige weak head. Brown colour. Aroma is malty, moderately fruity with caramel notes. Flavor is moderately sweet with caramel and light roasty tones, ending in a short moderately sweet finish. Medium bodied.

Quick disipation of the head. What was there was short and white (all of 3 seconds). Deep red wine colour. Citric and pithy, sourness. Notes of molases, fruit and a good punch of yeast.

Clear light chestnut color with a smaller cream colored head. Lots of caramel and light fruit in the nose. Light chocolate and sweet malt flavors. Quite simple and drinkable. But then again just plain simple. Somewhat like a american brown with a bit more yeast profile.

Nice foamy head, amber red body. Aroma is quite heavy, roasted malt and sugar. Flavor is sweet malt, brown sugar, nut and alcohol. Bitter/dry finish. OK, but nothing more.

An amber beer with a beige head. The aroma is primarily sweet with some sour notes - is it the yeast? The flavor is very thin, but what is there is sweet malty with notes of caramel and bread with hints of the alcohol.

Smooth malty aroma and start. Roasted middle and roasted caramel and pepper in finish. Special palate. Hard to describe. Some burned notes. Toast.

A keeper of a bottle. This beer had a small sized tan head with fine sized bubbles that completely dissipated. The body contained lively carbonation and a transparent body with a brown hue. The nose was malty, caramel and hops. The flavor was moderately sweet, lightly acidic, some bitter notes, and caramel. The mouthfeel was dry and smooth and this was a light-medium bodied beer. This beer had good lacing on the sides of my glass.
